"Do not be afraid of them; the LORD your God himself will fight for you." This section of Scripture begins and ends with this same statement. The Israelites were finally seeing their long journey come to an end. God had shown them his mighty power throughout many generations. Here, God is delivering kingdoms into the hands of the Israelites. I find it almost silly that Moses mentions the size of one of the beds. I am pretty sure it might have been to show us the size of the opponents of Joshua. They were huge and very scary.
We serve a just God that requires obedience. These defeated kingdoms were completely destroyed because of the disobedience of all generations. God is constantly telling us to not be afraid - that he is fighting for us. In our world today, that should be an overwhelming promise for
all of us. As Christians, we can show a desperate world that God is truly in control and will fight for those that love him. I truly want to be like Joshua and hear God when he tells me not to be afraid of anything because he is fighting for me.
Lord, help us to listen and be assured of your presence constantly in our lives. You have the plans for us to prosper.
