Over the years as I have read through the Bible, I have seen a recurring theme. Verse 23 of this chapter touches on that theme. To those who are obedient to God, God gives satisfaction. Ecclesiastes 3:13 says being satisfied with one's labor is a gift from God. Hosea 4 describes Israel being punished for their disobedience. Part of v. 10 is, "They will eat, but not have enough." When people don't honor God, what they have is never enough.
Micah 6:15 communicates the idea of God removing his blessing from disobedient people. They will work hard, but still not have. They may eat, but they will not be satisfied. Satisfaction is part of God's blessing for obedience. When people are honest and follow the principles of Micah 6:8, there will be a sense of satisfaction within them.
Haggai 1:6, 9 gives a picture of how God "takes away" from those who are disobedient. The harvest isn't multiplied. The food and drink don't satisfy hunger and thirst. One is never warm enough no matter how much clothing is put on. Earned wages seem to just vanish by unexpected expenses. In verse 9 God says, " ... you bring it home, I blow it away." I know that is what seems to happen to my money.
Satisfaction is from God. It is given to obedient people.
"Let them give thanks to the LORD for His lovingkindness, And for His wonders to the sons of men! For He has satisfied the thirsty soul, And the hungry soul He has filled with what is good" (Psalm 107:8, 9).
