Strange Magnificent Plan
Wednesday, April 6, 2016

In the book, "The Reluctant Prophet," the main character, Allison Chamberlain, feels God nudging her to buy a Harley. "And then I felt something else. A Nudge, like someone had given me a healthy shove with a beefy elbow. It was palpable - even though nobody was sitting on either side of me. 'Allison,' it said. 'Go out and buy a Harley.' " Have you ever felt that nudge? (Men, if you try this argument with your wives, you better have proof.) OK, so maybe God's not saying to buy a Harley, but have you ever felt God calling you to do something that didn't make logical sense?

In today's Scripture, Naomi gives Ruth instructions that Ruth being a foreigner likely found very strange. However, Naomi's plan was in accordance with Israelite custom and law, and therefore, it was in line with God's plan. By observing this common custom, Ruth was informing Boaz that he could be her family redeemer. Ruth followed Naomi's strange plan and was rewarded for her action. Boaz agreed to be the family redeemer.

The heroine of "The Reluctant Prophet" follows her strange nudge and buys the Harley. And like Ruth, Allison lands right in the center of God's will for her life.

When God is the One doing the nudging, no matter how strange or illogical it seems, it will lead you to the heart of his will for you.
