Deuteronomy 3:23-29
Moses is pleading with God that he be able to see the Promised Land. He blames Israel for God's being mad at him. If anyone has reason to be desperate before the Lord, it would be Moses. After all the challenging years leading the Israelites, God has forbidden him from going into the Promised Land with good reason. God stops Moses in the midst of his complaining and instructs him to look at the Promised Land from Mount Pisgah, and then commission Joshua to become the leader of his people. Sometimes, I can just about hear God doing the same in my life. Telling me to stop debating with him and to do as he has commanded. What I find reassuring is that God doesn't change his mind even though Moses has brought before him a reasonable argument. God is in control and is unchangeable. He tells Moses to encourage and teach Joshua to be the kind of leader that God needs for his people. God was still using Moses to do his work. Just think of the time we waste trying to change our paths and complaining about God's discipline in our lives when we could be following God's will and encouraging and teaching others.

Lord, please, lead us no matter how unleadable we may be. Use us as you see fit!
