This Scripture takes me back to my childhood, although I did not eat manna, what we had was by God's provision, and as I grow older I more fully understand my parents' gratitude to God.
The children of Israel, after sitting by pots filled with meat and had bread to their fill in Egypt, were freed from captivity only to be led into the wilderness where they began to complain about their living conditions. So a loving God provided quail in the evening and in the morning after the dew lifted, they found a small round substance on the ground. This was their bread, bread from heaven.
Our God is not a wasteful God. He directed that each family gather only what was needed for that day. Some did not listen and their extra spoiled. Today, in the light of God's direction, perhaps we should only prepare what the family needs, for he will provide for tomorrow. What a blessing to see God's hand at work providing for his faithful, which includes you. Give thanks! Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
