Moses spent 40 days in the presence of the Lord atop Mount Sinai. God gave Moses instructions about how he would dwell among his people. Moses' first task before construction of the tabernacle was to receive gifts from the people. These offerings were not required or expected, but were to be "from every man whose heart moves him." These gifts of metal, cloth, stone, oil and incense were to be used to make a sanctuary that God "may dwell in their midst."
My husband, Bob, recently returned from a mission trip to Liberia. When these Africans take an offering, they dance by the offering plate. These people have so little, but they give with such joy and thanksgiving. As the Scriptures record, "God loves a cheerful giver." When was the last time you gave to the Lord from a "dancing" heart?
Lord, I willingly offer up all that I have. Make me a worthy sanctuary for you to dwell in. I long for you to be in the midst of my life. Create in me a willing heart to give cheerfully.
