But Moses

Exodus 32:7-14
I believe strongly that God is a God of second chances. Perhaps 70 times seven chances. I know that is true in my own life. I don't presume to take advantage of God's mercy, but I do believe and preach that no matter who you are or what you may have done, God will forgive and restore, and that we are all in the same condition - sinners saved by grace. I like to say in Seffner, "We are a church of misfit Christians, so we don't need to be pointing fingers; but instead, encourage one another." My favorite line in this passage is verse 11 (NIV) - "But Moses sought the favor of the Lord his God." My grandmother Edith was a "BUT MOSES." I often wonder how I survived my college years and became a pastor, and then I know - "But Edith." Who are you a But Moses for? Be a But Moses.

Psalm 106:23 - "He would destroy them had not Moses stood in the breach before him to keep his wrath from destroying them."
