Moses relates the history of the beginnings. These truths were things passed down from generation to generation. How do you explain the mighty spiritual things of God to a human mortal ear? They are indescribable! So they are related to things we can understand. People knew what water was. They understood deepness. They understood light and dark, day and night. By relating spiritual things to earthly forms, people were able to grasp spiritual truths. Jesus used this method when he taught with parables.
How does God speak to us today? Not just through his word or through a pastor, but through the everyday things of life. You cannot look at creation and not see his hand. He will show you truths through things you go through. You had to stop for a reason, but, just down the road was an accident you were saved from. He's teaching you about his protection.
Lord, give me the eyes of a child and let me say "see that?!" in awe and wonderment at your hand's working in my life. Amen.
