Just before these verses, we learned that God regretted he had made humans. Suddenly we learn that there was one righteous human: Noah. We are not told much about Noah except that he was a righteous man who listened to God and did as God told him. How many Christians today can say that? We so often read God's Word and read into the beliefs of those around us - we are clearly of this world. How many churches have closed or destroyed the church's witness? We are not seeing the world destroyed again like in Noah's time, but we are seeing Christians falling for false teachings and welcoming worldly ideas into the church, like a woman's 'right' to abort a baby or that same-sex relationships are welcomed by God. The other problem is that so-called Christians show nothing but hate to these people.
As Christians we are to love the sinner and hate the sin. We must be like Noah and build an ark for the lost to find a place of salvation, with the church doing all that God has commanded.
Lord, guide us as we live in this evil world, living for you and leading others to a saving faith in you.
