We are incredibly excited to announce that the Michigan Friesian Horse Club will be sponsoring International FEI trainer and rider Peter Spahn at the Friesian Connection Stallion Station for a two day dressage clinic. Please join us for this rare opportunity! Contact Janice VerMerris (616-430-6373 or [email protected]) for more information. Riding space is limited, auditors are welcome!

Marc-Peter Spahn

Top International rider and trainer, Marc-Peter Spahn developed a passion for horses early in his childhood, and by the age of just eighteen was already competing at Prix St. George level in dressage - a considerable accomplishment. He has had innumerable successes at the highest levels internationally and is a dedicated trainer, as well as rider; he was heavily involved in training riders for the 2008 Hong Kong Olympic Games and in 2010 one of his students placed 14th at the World Equestrian Games, Kentucky. Currently his students are competing at Grand Prix level and he is training several horses for the Belgian team. At the end of 2013 Marc-Peter took over the ride on world class stallion H Ekwador, and they have already achieved successes at Grand Prix.

Marc-Peter is closely associated with Friesians and was introduced to them relatively early in his career. He has become one of the breed's greatest advocates over the years. He established the important Fryso Huys project, which worked for seven years to promote the Friesian horse in the dressage world at the highest levels. Marc-Peter is most often linked with the outstanding Friesian stallion Anders 451 Sport who triumphed at Grand Prix level and has done much to expand the profile of this breed within the dressage world. Anders 451 became the first Friesian ever competing in a world championship; it is to Marc-Peter's credit that Friesian horses are now regularly seen competing in the higher levels of dressage. Through his many years of experience Marc-Peter has also become one of the foremost authorities on the Friesian breed, including the different bloodlines and frequently gives lecture/demonstrations internationally.

Marc-Peter trains with Dutch rider Tineke Bartels and operates from Stal Baron Spahn with his partner, the rider Ykje Baron.
