Oakdale Electric Cooperative Kicks Off New
Commitment to Community Award
|
|
The Selfless Service Award, a year-round commitment to community program, is making its debut at the co-op this spring. Oakdale Electric Cooperative [OEC] believes in the power of individuals stepping forward and using their talents for the benefit of others. In an effort to thank these outstanding individuals for their selfless service, OEC will recognize one nominated individual quarterly [January, April, July, and October] for his or her volunteer work.
Eligibility
Individuals engaging in community volunteerism, by performing valuable services that benefit and improve the quality of life within the communities served by Oakdale Electric Cooperative, are eligible for nomination. These communities include Elroy, Mauston, Necedah, Nekoosa, New Lisbon, Pittsville, Reedsburg, Sparta, Tomah, Wilton, Wisconsin Dells, and Wonewoc. Awards will not be granted, for example, to an individual in a paid position within a non-profit organization, an individual who assists another individual (i.e., lawn mowing, snow shoveling, etc.), or self-nominations.
Nomination
Members and non-members residing within the communities served may nominate for and/or receive the Selfless Service Award. Completed nomination forms must be submitted by the specified deadlines of March 15, June 15, September 15, and December 15. The nomination form can be completed online at oakdalerec.com/selfless-service-award. Otherwise, a nomination form can be requested by contacting Oakdale Electric Cooperative at 608-372-4131 Monday - Friday from 7:30AM – 4PM.
Nomination Forms will be kept on file for consideration for the next quarterly award. If not selected at that time, they will be omitted from further consideration.
Selection
The Selfless Service Award nominations forms will be reviewed and the winner selected by General Manager/CEO Chris Tackmann. The winner will be notified on or about the first day of each month in January, April, July and October.
The winner of the Selfless Service Award will receive a $250 gift card, plaque, and recognition in Oakdale Electric Cooperative’s monthly member publications, website, and social media pages.

DHS Announces Groups Eligible for COVID-19 Vaccine on March 1
People 65+, teachers, and child care workers will be prioritized
The Department of Health Services (DHS) today announced that new groups will be eligible for the COVID-19 vaccine starting March 1. The newly eligible groups, initially announced in January, include in priority order: education and child care staff, people enrolled in Medicaid long-term care programs, some public-facing essential workers, non-frontline essential health care personnel, and facility staff and residents in congregate living settings. While these groups are eligible on March 1, educators and child care providers should anticipate receiving vaccine in March and early April, and the remaining groups can plan to be vaccinated in April and May.
In recent weeks, the state’s allocation of vaccine from the federal government has increased and is expected to further increase on March 1. This increase will initially be targeted to educators and child care providers. Additionally, Wisconsin has vaccinated nearly 50% of residents 65 and older. Wisconsin continues to be one of the top states in the country for vaccine administration and opening up further eligibility will allow vaccinators to keep up the pace.
