Day on the Hill

The AC4C  Poli cy Group hosted the 5th Annual DOH event on February 28th - and successfully beat the weather odds.  Did you realize over the life of this event we have educated almost 1000 youth and adults about the ways of legislative processes and key policies that affect our youth?

For more pictures and information about the event scroll through our AC4C Facebook page

What is it?

The Iowa ABD Age to Purchase App allows users to scan driver's licenses with their smartphone. No personal information of the customer is stored on the device. The built-in scanning function uses the camera feature on the device to scan the barcode on the driver's license to quickly help determine age and validity. The app also gives users access to a view similar to the desktop calendars previously issued by ABD.

On Tuesday, April 30th
Officer Jermaine Galloway, the Tall Cop Who Says Stop, will be presenting twice in Jones County.  The first training "High in Plain Sight" will be held from 9-4 at the National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa.  This training is geared towards professionals from education, behavioral health, law enforcement, coalition members and any adult who is interested.  The Iowa Board of Certification has approved 5.5 CEUs in Alcohol and Drugs.  The cost is $25 and this includes lunch on site and snacks for breaks. Scholarships are available.  Please see the attached registration flyer for more details and register by replying to this email.  We already have 30 people signed up for this training coming from all over the state. We can fit 75-100 in the NMM so let's fill it up.
In the evening, Officer Galloway will be presenting "You Can't Stop What You Don't Know" at the Monticello High School. He'll be talking about how to prevent vaping, underage drinking, youth marijuana use, prescription drug abuse, and more.  This event is FREE to attendees and FREE pizza will be served as well starting at 5:30 with the presentation in the auditorium from 6:30 to 8.   This presentation is for all parents and their middle and high school kids, county-wide and beyond, as well as any adults who are interested.  See the attached flyer for more details as well. Registration is required ahead because we need a certain number to even have the event and also to get a count for pizza. Registration will end Wed., April 24.  You can mail me back to register or email   Jennifer Husmann  to save your seats.
