This 6.5-hour course will help participants strengthen digital skills that are important for their role.

NEW! Goal-Setting Basics with English Language Learners

This course is for any adult education practitioner who wants to learn more about supporting English language learners (ELLs) with developing academic and career goals. Participants will have the opportunity to build upon their knowledge of effective goal setting with adult learners by exploring strategies that help ELLs identify their goals even when they have limited English proficiency.

Google Applied Digital Skills

Choose from over 200 lessons that can help participants enhance their use of Google tools in their practice and improve digital literacy skills. Participants will have 45 days from enrolling to complete their chosen lesson, apply something they learned, and reflect on how their new skills impact their practice. Enroll anytime.

Google Certified Educator Level 1

Prepare for the Google Certified Educator Level 1 exam while broadening your capabilities with Google applications in this 15-week course.

Improving Your Agency's Data Quality and Processes

This course supports agency work in improving data quality. Participant teams should include an agency leader who can enact change at the agency and one person who is familiar with all aspects of the agency’s data entry process. During the course, agency teams will map their agency’s data, identify areas for improvement, and develop an action plan. Enroll anytime and have 60 days from the enrollment date to complete the course.

Introduction to Workforce Preparation Skills

In this 4.5-hour course, participants will learn about the Transferrable and Digital Literacy Skills (part of the PA Foundation Skills) and work with a student to identify skills they need to work on to reach their employment goal.

Motivating Adult Learners to Persist

Complete the course on the LINCS website and upload your certificate of completion to the PD Portal within 30 days of enrollment for professional development credit.

New Administrator Training

This online course provides important information for new adult education program administrators and will be available to new administrators as needed throughout the program year. To enroll in the course, please email your ProLO consultant.

Staff Induction Verification Course

New staff members who are participating in the staff induction process can enroll in this course after they have completed the required activities. Administrators can review the staff induction process by downloading the 2024-2025 Staff Induction Implementation Guide.

Trauma-Informed Instructional Practices for Adult Educators

Introduction to Universal Design for Learning: Learning that Works for All

Learn about the core UDL principles and consider ways to apply them to your practice to increase engagement and accessibility with students or other staff members.

Universal Design for Learning: It All Starts with a Goal 

Examine various goal-setting techniques the participant can use to create their own goals or help others establish and monitor meaningful and attainable goals.

Universal Design for Learning: Making Math Matter

Studying math can produce strong emotions, as many individuals feel they suffer from math anxiety, which hinders their ability to learn. This course will explore math anxiety, how it is often displayed, and the best practices to reduce it.

Universal Design for Learning: Making Reading and Writing Matter

Reflect on and develop new strategies for teaching literacy in adult education classrooms, with an emphasis placed on the importance of making literacy content relevant for all students.

Staff Induction Modules

This series of modules is designed for new agency staff members as part of a customizable onboarding process. Existing staff may also choose to complete these modules at any time.

On-Demand Modules

On-demand modules are offered in the PD Portal to provide participants with flexible learning opportunities on a variety of topics. Please note that these on-demand modules are not part of the series of modules designed for staff induction.

Tutor Training Modules

These modules cover the foundational skills needed by volunteers working in adult education programs. The nine modules serve as a component of volunteer tutor and classroom aide training and can be completed at any time.

Friday Lunchtime Webinar Resources

The Professional Development System offers Friday Lunchtime Webinars most Fridays at noon. Enroll in Friday Lunchtime Webinar Resources in the course catalog to access the complete schedule of webinars, the webinar link, presentation slides, and recordings.

Program PD Team

Administrators, IHPDSs, and digital literacy specialists can enroll in the Program PD Team course in the PD Portal to access essential tools and resources related to professional development at their agency.

Student Support Coordinator Professional Development Resources

Any adult education staff person who provides student support services can enroll in this space in the PD Portal. Participants will gain access to resources, including the Student Support Coordinator Hub and networking events.

Tutor Coordinator Resource Hub

This hub contains documents and resources to support tutor coordinators. Any staff who train or work closely with volunteer tutors or classroom aides can enroll in this space in the PD Portal to access the resources.

WORKFORCE STAFF TRAINING

Partnering and collaborating with our workforce development partners is critical for successfully supporting our adult learners’ transition to postsecondary and the workforce. These online, on-demand trainings take about an hour and will help you learn more about how to collaborate with our partners. They’re perfect for new staff, as well as for current staff who want to learn how they can better collaborate with workforce development partners.
