Flex Fitness Gym opened their doors in North Kansas City in October 2021, transforming owner, Jason May's dreams of creating an old school, hard core gym with hand-picked unique equipment, that would be open 24/7 and affordable to all, into a reality. In addition to the gym, Flex offers personal training and nutrition plans for all fitness levels. Their business has grown by leaps and bounds, and less than 18 months later, they have expanded an additional 4,500 square feet. To celebrate this success and thank the North Kansas City community for their support, Flex will be hosting a launch party and ribbon cutting ceremony on Saturday, March 26th. The gym will be open to the community. IFBB (International Federation of BodyBuilding and Fitness) Pro Bodybuilder Hunter Labrada will be a guest.
Make plans now to drop by and take part in the celebration! More details and times for specific activities coming soon.

North Kansas City Schools is home to 21,000 students and counting and is projected to grow by more than 1,500 students in the next five years. As the district grows, new facilities and upgrades are needed throughout the district. Additional support for staff will ensure the district continues to serve as Champions for all students, creating learning environments in which students can reach their maximum potential.
To make these proposed improvements a reality, NKC Schools asks voters to consider a zero tax increase levy transfer and $140 million bond issue on the April 5, 2022 ballot.
For more detailed information about the Zero Tax Increase Levy Transfer & Bond and to learn more about the proposed improvements, consider some frequently asked questions, and review the Ballot language, visit nkcschools.org/2022.

As part of the Downtown Streetscape Project, certain trees were identified for removal that have reached the end of their lifespan. The City’s contractor completed the removal of those identified trees and will continue to remove the remaining stumps over the coming days. This is the first step in the revitalization of North Kansas City’s picturesque downtown streetscape and beautiful tree canopy. As the project begins to conclude, new trees and landscaping will be planted. The new trees will be planted in larger tree wells, allowing them to grow healthier and stronger.
A robust tree canopy is important to North Kansas City in all areas of the city, not just downtown. The City operates a yearly tree maintenance and replacement program for all trees located in City right-of-way. Each year the City plants approximately 80 trees and maintains more than 3,000 trees. You can find more information about the citywide tree program at nkc.org/trees.

Park Printing was established in 1906 during the Great Depression. The company survived those extremely difficult times and was later purchased by the Smith family in 1949. The company is still run today by a second-generation printer who recently changed the name to KC Book to emphasize the company’s centralized location and their commitment to the book industry.
The KC Book management team has a combined 125 years in the printing industry and the majority of their production team members have spent their entire career with KCB.
