Punta Cana,
Domincan Republic
We traveled to this beautiful island paradise to find the best places to stay and things to do!
Be-Live Hotel (above):
We recommend an upgraded room at this all-inclusive 5 star resort in Bavaro. Our room had marble floors, Caribbean colored walls and a balcony overlooking the ocean. There's an Adult's Club and a Better Together family section. Breakfast at the Windows buffet offered a wide variety of hot dishes, as well as fruits and cereals. The Gourmet restaurant was excellent for dinner and reservations are required.
We toured many resorts during our stay, including Dreams Punta Cana (photo, above left), an all-inclusive resort with many activities onsite, including a Kid's Club, huge spa, multiple pools and a nice beach. We found the Preferred Club rooms to be much nicer than the standard rooms.
The Riu Palace (photo, above right), Riu Bavaro , Riu Macao , Riu Bambu and Riu Naiboa are five all-inclusive hotels on one property. This is a great resort with adult and family sections. The Riu Palace has a European flair and is very elegant, while Bambu is designed more for families. The Macao has a new show every night and a 24 hour sports bar. The Bavaro is the highest priced hotel in the complex, with many shops, spa, sports bar and a lobby with crushed glass tiled columns. Even the standard rooms are very well appointed.
Secrets (above, adults only) and Now Larimar (below, families welcome) are all-inclusive with an open air, second floor disco bar complete with step-up pool, a casino, bowling alleys and an X-Box station. The complex includes 6 restaurants: Spanish, French, Seafood, Mexican, International and a buffet (plus a sushi bar at Secrets). Now Larimar has a very large Kid's Club, with nice standard rooms and even better preferred rooms, with tropical, pool and ocean views available.
Royalton (above, left) and Memories Splash (above, right) is an all-inclusive resort complex, with the beachfront, adults only Royalton which features international premium brand drinks at all bars, 8 restaurants with no reservations required, and 24 hour room service. Memories Splash features the biggest water park (above right) in the Dominican Republic and includes a huge theater, sports bar, martini bar, two pools and swim-up rooms. There is a 24 hour trolley that takes guests between the hotels and water park, which is included for Memories Splash guests and available for an extra charge to guests of the Royalton.
Iberostar Punta Cana has 427 rooms with 80 junior suites as was renovated in 2012. It tends to be quieter than its sister property, Iberostar Dominica (above), which share the same facilities, including 1 hour per person, per day at the sauna and spa Jacuzzi and 1 hour per person per day of water activities. Also included is a Kid's Club for children ages 4-12 . Both resorts are all-inclusive, but WiFi is extra.
Iberostar Grand Bavaro Hotel (above) is an all-inclusive, adults-only resort that includes butler service. One round of gold with cart is included with a 4 night stay and 2 rounds with a 7 night stay. The course is beautiful! The hotel has 4 categories of rooms, 4 extremely nice specialty restaurants, and guests staying here have access to 11 other restaurant, a large theater with a variety of entertainment options, and even a pillow menu. The property was remodeled in 2012 and guests have access to a 24 hour shuttle services that travels between the 4 Iberostar properties.
Bavaro Adventure Park (above)
We highly recommend spending a day here and enjoying all this park has to offer, including Ziplines, Bungee Jumping, Pirate Ship, Climbing Garden, Zorbing (rolling down a hill in a giant, double-walled inflatable ball), Mountain Biking, Flight Simulator, Segways, Paintball, Jurassic Park, Butterfly Garden, Orchid Garden, Cactus Garden, Zen Garden, Restaurant, Shops and much more! This fabulous park has something for everyone!

Tips for Traveling with Children
Take your time. Give yourself lots of time - whether you're flying or driving - to check in, to get through security, at rest stops, etc., especially if you're traveling with young children.

Pack small toys. When your child gets fussy or bored, give them a toy to play with.

Pack a change of clothing , in case of spills or accidents.

Remind your children not to talk to strangers . Keep an eye on them, or take them with you to the restroom.
