Creation Healing Task Force

Beloved:

At the 196th Diocesan Convention the assembly passed Resolution #2 to form an Creation Healing Task Force as follows:

Resolved, that Bishop White appoint a task force of clergy and lay leaders from across the Diocese to explore and identify the place of creation care ministry in our Diocese and report its findings and recommendations to the 197th Convention of the Episcopal Diocese of Kentucky. For your reference, here is the resolution. 

I am now sending this invitation to ask for nominees. The resolution is looking for interested individuals who would be willing to serve on the Task Force and other subcommittees that might be created in fulfilling this resolution. Please respond by Monday, April 15. 

In considering this invitation, you may have an individual(s) in mind who would bring gifts to the Task Force. If they affirm the desire to be nominated, please share their contact information with us.

Urban Partnership Holy Week Observances

Bishop White will preside at all of the liturgies for Holy Week within the Urban Partnership. He will preside and preach at the Palm Sunday liturgy at the Cathedral, as well as preside at all of the Holy Week Liturgies, concluding with presiding and preaching on Easter Sunday at Christ Church Cathedral. The Holy Week services will be live-streamed at the Cathedral's facebook here.

Scholarships Available for College Students' Spring Semester

The Kohler Family Scholarship Committee meets bi-annually to review applications for students requesting financial assistance to attend college, university or vocational programs. Applicants must be baptized and be a member of a church in the Episcopal Diocese of Kentucky. The applicant must show financial need, academic promise, be baptized, and be willing to provide additional supporting information as stipulated on the Application. Applications are accepted up to June 15th for fall semesters, and up to November 15th for spring semesters. For more information, please see the website here.

81st General Convention Volunteers Wanted



The volunteer registration system has been live for about a month and things are ticking along. I greatly appreciate the support we’ve been receiving from the parish liaisons. They are working hard to get the word out and answer questions about volunteering. We have 160 people registered for 649 shifts out of 1600+. Of those registered, over 1/3 are from the diocese representing a little more than half of the congregations.

While our greatest need is in Public Safety and the House of Deputies, there are positions in almost all areas. Whether you need to sit or can’t sit still, if you have a little time or a lot, there are jobs for everyone. Youth Working to End Gun Violence

During the 81st General Convention, Bishops United Against Gun Violence will hold a training for high school students.

Youth will learn from experienced community organizers in the gun violence prevention movement, spend

time with participants in Bishops United Against Gun Violence, and experience the 81st General Convention of

the Episcopal Church.

The 81st General Convention of The Episcopal Church will be held at the Kentucky International Convention Center from June 23rd – 28th, 2024. As part of the event, we have an exhibit show running from June 21st to June 27th which is serves as marketplace and educational center for Deputies, Bishops, clergy and lay people from around our church and the world. Exhibiting at our convention provides a unique opportunity for your company or organization to reach out and be seen by this diverse community. A Letter from the Racial Healing Commission

The Racial Healing Commission has been working to bring healing and foster beloved community in our diocese. In this ministry the Commission have provided for our diocese the Dismantling Racism Training events to bring awareness and learning as to how we can build beloved community. Congregational leaders, please read the attached letter and learn more about ways you can participate in and raise awareness concerning our leadership's need to take these trainings. Racial Healing Commission Seeking Technical Hosts



The Racial Healing Commission is recruiting persons who can assist with the technology for virtual meetings. Training for these positions will be provided. A small stipend will be offered. New 2024 Dismantling Racism Training dates

Dismantling Racism Training dates for 2024 are now available. Important information for these events is listed below.

In-person Training Days:

Saturday, April 27th, 2024 at Christ Church, Bowling Green

The event will begin at 9:30 and end no later than 4 pm (times listed are in local times: Louisville-EST, Bowling Green-CST). Lunch will be provided as well as snacks throughout the day.

Virtual Training Day via zoom:

Thursday, April 11, 2024

The virtual one day event will begin at 9:30 EST (8:30 CST). We will end no later than 3:30 EST (2:30 CST). We will have breaks throughout the day and a break for lunch.

The deadline to register for a training event will be three days before the session.

To foster optimum learning and conversation, the participant limit for each training day is 24. Please sign up early to be sure to get the time you want.

Grant applications Open for 2024 Episcopal Creation Care Projects

The Episcopal Church’s Task Force on the Care of Creation and Environmental Racism is offering an additional round of grant funding for up to eight projects that seek to bolster creation care and environmental justice work. The deadline to apply online is March 22. Click here for more information.

Province IV Environmental Ministry Network

The Environmental Ministry Network of Province IV of the Episcopal Church exists to support education, organization, collaboration and promotion around the issues of eco-justice, eco-stewardship and eco-spirituality.
