We've Adopted Schiller School! Pittsburgh Schiller is a STEAM Magnet School serving students in grades six, seven, and eight. The school is located on the north side of the city of Pittsburgh at the foot of Troy and Spring Hill.  The Pittsburgh Schiller STEAM Academy magnet provides a rigorous academic program and also involves STEAM- focused curriculum in all classes, as well as a STEAM Lab utilized by all students. The Education Partnership’s Adopt-A-School Program provides a unique opportunity for local corporations, organizations, foundations, and individuals to support neighborhood schools by providing age-appropriate Power Tools Homework Kits for every student in a school.

These kits, full of brand-new school supplies like pencils, pens, crayons, glue, paper, notebooks, folders, markers, and scissors that students can take home with them. There are different kit types for different grade levels, ensuring that every student gets a kit tailored to their needs.  This program also offers sponsors the opportunity to make a big impact on a student's education by offering encouragement in the form of inspirational notes along with the supplies. The sponsorship cost of each school supply kit is $26 which includes the cost of brand new supplies, marketing materials, transportation and housing for the kits, coordination of distribution to the students, and access to the Teacher Resource Center for all teachers in a sponsored school.   Learn More about Adopt-A-School & Adopting a school yourself, Here!

Matt’s Maker Space is Helping Redefine Education

Matt's Maker Space started in Mt. Lebanon with their seven elementary schools, and has now also expanded into both their middle schools as well. This month we spoke with Duane Lewis, Practical Arts Department Chair of the Mt. Lebanon School District who oversees the maker spaces for grades 6-12 to see how this partnership has changed the education curriculum. Read the Article Here.
