WEEKLY UPDATE | March 1-7, 2020
Sundays at UUCGL
Worship Service March 1, 2020 | 10am
"Just Us."
Claire Wilson, MSW - Guest Worship Leader
As an antidote to increasing despair and shock turned into rage triggered by today's political climate, Claire Wilson, UUCGL Member and Coordinator of our Pastoral Care Ministry Team, will share how she has been able to mitigate feelings of hopelessness and gain a more promising perspective. Canvassing door-to-door for the candidate who has consistently expressed values that most align with her UU world view, she experienced an inspiring surprise encounter with one of her heroes whom she hadn't seen in 27 years.
Sunday Morning Childcare . . .
The childcare room is open and offers a safe, play oriented environment for children 4 and under. If no one is able to staff the room on a given Sunday, parents are welcome to supervise their children in the room during worship. If you have any questions, please contact the Director of Community Life and Learning at [email protected] .

Our Church History - Archive Items Give and Take
During March 15 Fellowship Hour
Do you have an order of service, sermon, report, photograph or other item related to the history of UUCGL or one of the three churches that merged to form our church? If so, please consider contributing it to the archives being organized and safely stored by the Church History Ministry Team. If the item is something that you would rather keep, the team will scan or photograph the item and return it to you. During Fellowship Hour, hosted by the Church History Ministry Team, members will gladly accept articles for the archives collection. There will also be an opportunity for parishioners to acquire several duplicate or surplus items from the past.
Faith Development Programming
Parenting With Purpose Begins March 6 at 5:00pm
Announcing a new monthly program for those parenting and their families. Parenting with Purpose (PWP) will create a safe space for those engaged in parenting to discuss a variety of topics related to parenting in a way that best espouses our unique Unitarian Universalist values and our commitment to helping one another raise healthy and happy children. Whether centered on a collective reading or hearing directly from those who work with children, the program aspires to remind those parenting that they do not walk alone.

Meetings will begin with an all ages potluck at 5pm followed by separate, structured programs for young children and for those parenting at 6pm. The first meeting of this new programming will be March 6 in the Parish Hall. For more information, please contact DCLL Mark LaPointe at [email protected] .

Bring more solar to the area . . .
and help UUCGL raise funds!
If the GSMT's Climate Change and Faith series has increased your sense of urgency about the climate emergency, here is a concrete step you can take. Sign up for a site visit to see if your home is right for solar electric, solar hot water or air source heat pump (efficient heating) technology. The communities of Nahant, Swampscott and Salem have worked with the state to vet three installers of these technologies under the Solarize program. Info is available at www.solarizenorthshore.org .

The three installers are offering to pay non-profits for referrals: $25 per site visit plus $100 per installation for each technology for each address referred. Please sign up and refer your friends. To sign up under the UUCGL umbrella, email [email protected] . Indicate your name, email address and address and the technology (solar PV, solar thermal and/or heating/cooling) you are interested in. Tara Gallagher will be at Fellowship Hour on March 1st to answer any questions.
