From The Pastor's Desk:
Lenten blessings to you! In this season while we wonder at Jesus, his journey to the cross, and his love for us, we are going to find ways as a community that we can ask questions of God, of the world, of one another, and of ourselves. In Worship, you will see the silhouette of a tree behind our baptismal font. As we put leaves on it, each with a question that we might want to ask, we will see that tree bloom and blossom - a life of growth that comes through interacting with God and with the world.
Lord of Life has always been a church that welcomes Seekers and people who have questions about faith, Christian practices, and how to live a life that honors God and blesses us and others. Setting an example of asking questions and being willing to listen and grow sets a tone for our community as being a place where we don't have to have all the answers.
I hope that during this season of Lent you will find a way to add "question-leaves" to the tree in our sanctuary. You'll find lots of inspiration through our daily devotional guide (available in the narthex or by request as an email document) and other things during Lent. We have our midweek soup suppers, worship, and Bible studies. Through the mystery seeds (What will yours be?) that we will be handing out on Wednesdays and weekends, you will wait for the anticipated wonder of Easter. During our worship times we will look at different Lenten symbols and ways we can help others worship. We will watch as our Sanctuary question Tree grows. In all of these, we will be led by questions asked in Scripture that lead us into a fuller relationship with God and one another. These will be sources of Lenten blessings, and I hope that they will help your soul to grow and blossom.
Peace,
Pastor Wendolyn

Healing Service: Saturday, March 11, 5:00 PM
You are invited to a simple service of healing at our Saturday night worship service on March 11th. We will hear scripture that speaks into our hurt and also proclaims our hope. As humans, we can bear many kinds of pain and sorrows - from broken bones to broken relationships, from stress on our organs to the stress of unemployment. Whatever your struggle, this service will be a safe place to lay your burdens before God and to open the possibility of healing and counter-measures with the Lord of Life.
This will be a beautiful service to invite others to. The assembly will be invited to communion, to anointing with oil, and to prayer; but it will also welcome Seekers and those who may be unfamiliar with these kinds of practices. It will be, above all, a welcoming worship encounter.
Taize' Service: Saturday, March 18th, at 5:00 PM
Taize’ is a prayerful form of music known for its simple, yet rich and meditative character. This music often takes the structure of a simple melody that repeats over and over and is meant to serve as a kind of musical centering prayer. Pastor Emeritus David Jones will lead us at this service. Communion will be served. Come and participate in this spiritually moving worship service.
Let's welcome our new members!
Sunday, March 5th, at 11:15 AM
Saturday/Sunday, March 25th & 26th, all services
Two exciting events are coming up in March. On Sunday March 5th, after our 10:00 AM service, we will host a gathering for people interested in joining Lord of Life, and any member is invited to come join in the discussion of why Lord of Life is a welcoming congregation where people can grow in their faith. On the weekend of March 25th and 26th, we will welcome disciples into our congregation. How can you help people to grow into Christian friendship and active Ministry at Lord of Life? If you have ideas, please share them with Pastor and she will pass them on to Council and our ministries of evangelism and discipleship. If you would like to be a member of our team that will be focusing on inviting, welcoming, and integrating new members into our community, please contact Church Council member Cynthia Tait. A link to her email is below.

Lord Of Life Meditation Walk
Nestled in a wooded, peaceful area in the southeast corner of our church property is the Lord Of Life Meditation Walk. You will find the 14 Stations Of The Cross along the Meditation Walk. If you have not experienced the Stations Of The Cross or if you have done so in the past, Lent is an appropriate time for this journey.
The entrance to the area may not be obvious, but in the corner of the parking lot near the cell phone tower, look for two flower pots that define the path leading the area. A short distance after entering the path, you will pass under the archway pictured above. Cast metal plaques, depicting the Stations Of The Cross, line the way. They are numbered from 1 to 14. The images are the "traditional" ones. The link below will provide a printable meditation reference.

Helping Hands Ministry
Wednesday, March 29th,
At 9:30 AM
(For The Christian Caring Center)
Helping Hands is a monthly ministry to make sandwiches for the homeless served by Christian Caring Center. It meets the last Wednesday of each month. We form an assembly line and make over 200 sandwiches in an hour. Jobs are easy – putting meat and cheese on a roll, placing sandwiches in a baggie, counting the sandwiches, and putting them in a grocery bag. Everyone gets a small, easy task and a lot gets done quickly while we share some time together. We keep everyone safe by wearing gloves and masks, spacing ourselves, and venting the room. All are invited to join us! If you have any questions, please contact Janell Reich.

MORE stands for Modular Organic Regenerative Environments. The group is 100% funded by recycled athletic shoes, keeping them out of landfills. Donated shoes are sold to participating vendors in developing countries. Proceeds regenerate forests and jump start small farming co-ops in needy regions. This creates retail jobs while stimulating free enterprise. MORE provides basic supplies, tools, seeds (fruit-bearing mango, papaya, avocado and income producing mahogany), and agroforestry training to poor farming families, school children and rural villages.
You can contribute your used sneakers or athletic shoes by placing them in the collection box located in the church entryway. Please sneaker-type used footwear only, no dress or other shoes.

A Note To All At Lord Of Life:
Dear Lord of Life members!
It was great reading your February newsletter! It brought back many memories of the days when several of us started looking for a place to build our new church. We were worshipping in the elementary school and were ready to grow into a “real church.” We found the land across from the senior trailer park and began having all kinds of ideas. There was concern about the power lines, what should the church look like, how many should it seat, should it be more contemporary or rather traditional….can we afford it!!! Ah, the memories.
Jan and I were involved in much of the early days of LOL. We moved to Salisbury, Md. in 2019 to live near two of our children and 9 grandchildren.
We had spent 9 years in Tabernacle after 25 years in Cherry Hill.
Daughter, Cherry, runs a day care center here out of her home and son, Dr. Brian, is assistant provost of the foreign language dept at Salisbury University.
Jan passed away in 2019 from heart failure brought on by a stomach virus, and son, Derik, passed away from Covid-19 in 2019. His wife, Darlene and son Chris, live in Marlton.
It is great to hear from LOL from time to time and reflect on our time in Tabernacle. May God continue to support, guide, and lead LOL for years to come.
Your “old” friend!

Attention Thrivent Members:
Direct Your Choice Dollars
NOW!
Some Thrivent members receive "Thrivent Choice Dollars" as a bonus to having certain types of accounts with Thrivent Financial. Each year, the Choice Dollars are awarded from time to time. Members can donate ("direct") them to a charity recognized by Thrivent. Lord Of Life is one of them. If you do not direct your Choice Dollars to a charity, they are returned to Thrivent. Also, you must direct any 2022 Choice Dollars by March 31, 2023. They do not carry over to another year, and they will be returned to Thrivent if not directed by then.
You can direct your Choice Dollars on-line from your Thrivent account. You can also call Thrivent at 800-847-4836. When prompted, say, "Thrivent Choice." Links below are the Thrivent website and instructions on how to direct your dollars on-line.

|
Please Let Us Know If You Are A Thrivent Member!
And If You Can Help Our Church With Its Ministries!
Thrivent members have the ability to form what are called Action Teams. Two per year are permitted per account. Thrivent will also support the work of each Action Team with a monetary donation of up to 250 dollars. Many of our ministry projects qualify for this Thrivent support program. Some would be: quilt making, lap blanket making, Helping Hands, Vacation Bible School, Bridge of Peace Meals, Christian Caring Center Toy Drive, Wiley Fellowship, etc. You can sponsor one of these activities and receive funding from Thrivent.
What Would A Thrivent Member Have To Do?
Second: There is some online "paperwork" that needs to be completed before and after the project. There will be someone from Council who will help you with this.
Please Let Us Know If You Can Help!
