Whichever class wins gets a Free Dress Day on Monday, March 16! Believe in Her! | | A Message from the Dean of Students: | |
Dear Carondelet Community,
March is in full swing at Carondelet as we welcome the energy of spring and look ahead to cherished traditions, including Junior Prom on Saturday, March 7, and Senior Ball later this month. This season of celebration also invites reflection, growth, and meaningful conversation within our community.
Throughout March, Carondelet and De La Salle are joining together to focus on Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention. On March 10, students at both schools will participate in important assemblies addressing the realities of substance use and the power of making positive choices. Freshmen and sophomores will hear “Real Talk about Fake Pills” from Christina Julian of Song for Charlie, raising awareness about the dangers of fentanyl. Juniors and seniors will hear “Skillsets vs. Shortcuts” from Tomas Barraza of Vive 18.
That evening, we invite parents to join us from 6:30 to 7:30 PM in the Jean Hofmann Center for Innovation for Tomas Barraza’s parent presentation, “5 Cs of Everyday Prevention.” All parents are encouraged to attend and RSVP to reserve a seat.
As we celebrate Women’s History Month and honor the strength, resilience, and achievements of women past and present, we also recognize that adolescence is a time of growth not only academically, but socially and emotionally. Friendships often shift during these high school years, which is a normal and healthy part of development. Drawing on the wisdom of psychologist Dr. Lisa Damour, we encourage families to check in with their daughters about what healthy friendships look like, how they navigate conflict, and whether they feel supported and able to be themselves. Listening with curiosity, affirming feelings, and helping students focus on qualities such as kindness, trust, and mutual respect can strengthen resilience and confidence during times of change.
We also invite families to gather in community at the Winton Arts Film Festival this Friday, March 6, from 6:30 to 8:30 PM in the Jean Hofmann Center for Innovation, as we continue celebrating student voice and creativity.
We look forward to a month filled with celebration, learning, and connection.

Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month
The Cannon Wellness Center is offering focused programming throughout the month to raise awareness and develop tools to foster healthy relationships and friendships, and to equip students with tools to advocate for safety and respect within our community. Students are invited to attend the Healthy vs. Unhealthy Relationships Workshops on March 4 and 6.
Cultivating healthy relationships is an essential part of adolescent development and overall well-being, and it closely aligns with our Mission. It is important that students continue building skills in positive communication, recognizing and respecting healthy boundaries, and developing a clear understanding of consent.
Students are encouraged to check our events calendar and join us during lunch for activities that promote connection and reinforce the importance of safe, supportive relationships.
We encourage you to keep the lines of communication open with your daughters around this important and sensitive topic, and we have several additional resources on our Wellness Resources page to facilitate those conversations.
As wellness counselors, we are here to support our students and families. Please reach out to us if you have any questions, concerns, or would like further information regarding resources and community referrals.
