LEGACY SOCIETY DINNER – APRIL 30, 2026

ALL ARE INVITED!

Come join us on Thursday, April 30th, (6:00-8:00) in Chalice Hall of FCC, Sherwood, AR for our inaugural “GRR Legacy Dinner”. Share an evening with D.O.C. friends with delicious food, conversation and a presentation of the importance of leaving a legacy that will live on to benefit future generations of Disciples in the Great River Region in perpetuity.

Rev. Bobby Hawley, V.P. of the Christian Church Foundation, will be with us to share the various ways we can leave a gift so that our faithful stewardship may undergird future ministries that will benefit our children…and our children’s children…for years to come. No gift is too large…or too small. Remember the story of the widow’s mite? She gave all that she had…and that was more than enough!

One of the dreams that was shared by several participants at our Annual Gathering last fall was for the region to own a campground. Other dreams included birthing more new congregations – either with or without buildings – in communities that don’t yet have a Disciple’s presence. Will those dreams be fulfilled? Only time, prayer, and discernment will tell…but what wonderful ideas to consider! When we begin planning for the future with an abundance mindset, new & creative ministries may just burst onto the scene!

Whatever exciting ministry opportunities come our way in the future, what a blessing it will be for our leaders to be able to utilize the resources from previous generations! We are Christians today because of the faithfulness, courage and boldness of men and women more than 2,000 years ago! Our own Christian witness can – and should – live on long after our time on earth is done.

As we continue to dream the hopes and visions God has planted, let us ask ourselves, “What is God asking of me? How might God use my lifetime of faithfulness to benefit the future of the church?” What will OUR legacy be?

Follow the link below to make your reservation/s for our Legacy Dinner. Leave your checkbook at home and come with an open heart. We look forward to breaking bread with you on April 30th!

As always…be a blessing, Disciples,

Alison

A joint statement was made by the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and the United Church of Christ. Because we are a church of diversity and inclusivity, our thoughts, opinions, and political affiliations differ. I would invite us all to read the statement from a lens of faith, rather than through the lens of politics. I have shared the link below and invite you to prayerfully consider the encouragement within the document to "fervently pray for all those affected, including our partners and mission co-workers in the Middle East, that they may be safe and far from harm...and to continue to support peace and justice for all people in the Middle East, including those most vulnerable who have felt the impact most directly."
