OUR MISSION:
St. Rita School inspires students in Pre-Kindergarten through grade eight to achieve academic excellence in a safe, nurturing and faith-filled Catholic environment.
We prepare students to be morally responsible, innovative thinkers who, in today’s technology-guided global community, live and share the Love of Christ.
FROM THE DESK OF MRS. TIEZZI

Dear SRS Parents and Guardians,

Below please find some directives that we will be following in regards to the Coronavirus (COVID-19). I have included a link to the Town of Hamden’s latest update, as well as a letter from the Archdiocese of Hartford, Provost for Education Sr. Mary Grace Walsh. Please note that we are working diligently to clean and sanitize all areas of our school. We ask that you be equally vigilant in keeping your sick child/ren home from school. As this is a very fluid situation, updates and additional protocols may be put in place.

Archdiocese of Hartford
2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)
Directives for Archdiocesan High Schools and Parochial Schools
1. All students and school personnel returning from travel from a country listed as a Level 3 Health Alert will not be permitted to return to their school until 14 days after re-entry into the United States of America. China, Iran, Italy and South Korea are currently Level 3 Travel Health Notice Countries but this will most likely change as the virus continues to spread. Please visit the website for the Center for Disease Control and Prevention for further information: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov

2. All students and school personnel returning from international travel that includes a visit or layover in a Level 3 Health Alert country are required to get written medical clearance from their physician before returning to school. This written medical clearance letter, signed and stamped by a licensed physician, must be submitted to the school administration.

3. School water fountains are to be turned off at the water source or covered completely so that they may not be used. Students may bring in water bottles from home that should be kept in the possession of the student or in a backpack or lunch bag.

4. If a local public school district closes all its schools, the Catholic school(s) in that city/town will also close. The school administration is to contact the OEEC immediately.

5. In the event of a specific situation related to the virus in a Catholic school, the school administration should consult with the OEEC regarding a potential closure.

6. Each school administrator is to collaborate with his/her faculty to develop and approve appropriate tech and low tech (depending on the particular situation) options to be used in the event that schools would be closed. These options should be measurable in order for the school administration to know that learning objectives have been met. Hopefully, this will permit the days to be counted as school days even if the school building is closed.

7. Parents are asked to keep their children home from school if they present with flu-like symptoms or have a fever. Likewise, school personnel stay home if they present with flu-like symptoms or have a fever.

8. Teachers and parents are asked to either teach students or review good hygiene practices related to washing hands, sneezing, coughing, and touching faces.

9. School maintenance staffs and cleaning companies are to do everything possible to disinfect surfaces in classrooms, doorknobs, restrooms, and common areas. School administrators are asked to be vigilant over this.

Policy effective: March 10, 2020
This policy is subject to change as the situation develops.

**Please Note: This weekend's AIAC (State) Tournament Play for our Varsity Girls and JV6 Boys has been cancelled, and will not be rescheduled.

Thank you for entrusting your child/ren to our care. Please continue to pray for the health and well-being of everyone in our school family and beyond. Enjoy the beautiful Spring-like weather!

God Bless,
Mrs. Tiezzi
Principal

CALLING ALL PARTY HOSTS!!

The Auction is fast approaching, and
we still need Sign-Up Party hosts !

Hosting a Sign-Up Party is such a fun way to support SRS. To help, think of a neat idea for a party (it could be anything! In the past families have hosted a Family BBQ, Kids’ Movie Night, Mother’s Day Brunch, an Adults-Only Dessert Party…). Tell us what you’d like to do, where and when you’d like to host, and how many people you’re willing to entertain. On the night of the auction, guests can sign up for your party, and all of the money pledged will go to St. Rita School.

For more information and to submit a plan, please email us at [email protected] .

Thank you so much for your help!

Volunteer grant programs, also known as “Dollars for Doers” programs, are corporate giving programs created to encourage volunteerism in communities where employees live and work.
Through these programs, companies provide monetary grants to organizations where employees volunteer regularly.

Please take a moment and ask if your employer participates in a Volunteer Grants Program. Your time and talent at St. Rita School could turn into dollars for our school! Questions? Feel free to contact Joanne Bruno at  [email protected] .
