It’s a big number. But I’ll get back to that in a moment.

By now, you probably know that we cancelled our 65 th Anniversary Celebration . We made the call – just days before a State of Emergency was declared – to protect our guests and their families, many of whom are members of “vulnerable” populations, from the spread of COVID-19.

This event is the biggest single source of revenue for The Arc of Massachusetts, and the cancellation is having a serious negative impact on the funding that sustains our advocacy, outreach, and education.
65th Anniversary
In case you missed it: on Monday, March 9, The Arc of Massachusetts announced the cancellation of our 65th Anniversary Celebration as a result of mounting concerns over COVID-19. A state of emergency was declared in Massachusetts on Tuesday.
The 65th Anniversary Celebration may be cancelled, but our exciting auction is still a go. Starting March 23, you can bid on items including sports memorabilia, pop culture collectibles, trips, and unique experiences. Register now to be ready to bid.
2020 Census
Did you know? The 2020 Census officially begins today. You can now self-report online at . The Census Bureau will also begin mailing out notices this week.
The Arc of Massachusetts is offering a pledge for advocates to take, ensuring that they will be counted in the 2020 Census. Sign up on the pledge form today to receive exclusive updates before anyone else.
Operation House Call
On March 6, Operation House Call held its first dental training for over 40 students at the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Hear more about the new initiative which many students reported to be the best experience of their medical training.
In response to COVID-19, h ome visits with students from Boston University School of Medicine, Tufts School of Medicine, Simmons University and UMass Medical School will all be canceled. For more information, contact Kim at .
Government Affairs
Today it was announced that all State House events for the next 30 days have been cancelled due to the State of Emergency declared in Massachusetts regarding COVID-19. This means that this year's DDS CAB Day (March 18) and Autism Advocacy Day (April 7) are both cancelled.
The application period for the 2020-21 Barbara Gopen and Allen Crocker Fellowships is now open. The Gopen Fellowship is for a person with a developmental disability and the Crocker Fellowship is for a family member. The Fellowships run from July 2020 through June 2021. Deadline to apply is April 23.  More.
The Arc of Massachusetts is thrilled to be a partner on the screening of Hearts of Glass at the 2020 ReelAbilities Boston film festival. Hearts of Glass tells the story of a hydroponic farm that employs individuals with I/DD. The film will be shown Monday, March 30 at 6:30PM at Cotting School. Free tickets and more information here.
