Dear St. Rita School Parents and Guardians,
Thank you so much for your generosity with our Lenten project. To date we have raised over $835 for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation. Our mascots, Baldy and Ricky, have been traveling to various classrooms getting to know all our students. Please encourage your child to sacrifice something meaningful to them (ice cream treat at DQ, buying a snack at lunch, morning DD treat, etc.) and donate the money to help find a cure for childhood cancer. Your support of this very special charity is greatly appreciated.
I am looking for a few of our students who take Irish Step dance lessons and would be willing to perform during lunch time on Monday, St. Patrick’s Day. If your child is an Irish step-dancer and would like to perform please contact me directly. They would need to supply their music, their dance outfit and dance either soft shoe, hard shoe or both. Thank you for helping to bring a bit of Irish laughter and cheer to our students on St. Patrick’s Day.
Congratulations to the JV Boys for winning the Archdiocesan Basketball tournament this past Sunday. They will be playing in the New England CYO Basketball tournament the weekend of March 28-30. Their first game is Saturday, March 29 at 10:15 at Portland Middle School in Portland, CT. Congratulations also to Bridget B. , Giuliana P., and Leanne B. for their winning presentations in the regional CT State History Day contest. The girls will be advancing to the state competition in May.
Our Pastor, Fr. Tiano, is cordially inviting our school parents to have dinner with Archbishop Coyne. The dinner and talk by Archbishop Coyne on “Lenten Hope” is scheduled for Thursday, April 10 beginning at 6:30 P.M. The free dinner and talk will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church Hall. This is an opportunity for our school parents to take some time in their very hectic schedule for some spiritual renewal and community building, while hearing from our spiritual leader, Archbishop Coyne. Please sign up by March 31 via the QR code or by calling the St. Paul VI Parish office at 203-248-0141.
St. Rita Summer Camp this year will be run differently than in the past. We have exciting new programs such as coding, cheer, and drama, as well as some returning favorites - sports and under the sea - for your summer enjoyment. The camp is open to incoming kindergarteners through incoming 5th graders. The details are still being working out. Registration and payment will be on-line through FACTS.
The St. Rita School community will be joining together with the St. Paul VI faith formation community in sponsoring a joint family Mass, Easter Egg hunt, and fellowship (coffee and) on Sunday, April 6. All events will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church. Mass begins at 11:00 A.M. followed by the Easter Egg hunt and some fellowship with our school and parish families. If you plan to attend, we kindly ask that you donate a bag of pre-wrapped Easter treats for each child attending. Also if you have any plastic fill able Easter eggs that you would like to donate please do so.
If you still are unsure as to what you can do to help yourself grow closer to God during Lent, here are some suggestions from St. Therese Lisieux, the Little Flower.
