Administrative Information |
Attention D10 Residents: Critical D10 Council Elections on April 16! Please Consider Running for Open Seats!
Recently the school sent information to all D10 families regarding this upcoming election. Given the intense level of neighborhood opposition to TCGIS on several different fronts, we have reason to believe that many of our neighbors opposing TCGIS and its campus renovation project actively intend to run for open seats. Because at least 5 of the 9 open seats in this election HAVE NO INCUMBENT, this is an especially good opportunity for first timers to run for a seat. |

Save the Date: Capstone Scholarship Benefit Concert
Sat. April 13, from 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. in Minneapolis, Kirsten and Carolyn Stuber, TCGIS students and classical pianists, will perform a benefit concert to raise scholarship funds for students participating in TCGIS' Capstone Exchange. Every year TCGIS strives to ensure that all 8th graders are able to travel to Germany, regardless of financial ability to pay. Money raised through this concert will fund a new scholarship available to individual students, as opposed to the group fundraising efforts that benefit the entire group when they travel. In lieu of tickets, donations in any amount will be accepted. Stay tuned next week for the donation link.

Lost & Found Displayed at Conferences
Our Lost and Found bins are overflowing. The contents from the main Lost and Found cupboards and the cafeteria have been set out in the front foyer. The small green bins near the lockers in the classroom hallways are still full of (presumably) recently lost items. Please check both the front tables AND the bins in the hallways near your child(ren)'s classroom(s) when you come for conferences. Any remaining items will be donated early next week. Thank you!

Former Secretary of State Mark Ritchie's Editorial Comment Supporting TCGIS in March 11 Issue of MinnPost
Former Minnesota Secretary of State and current President of Global Minnesota, Mark Ritchie, penned a great
commentary in MinnPost supporting TCGIS in reply to a
previous commentary by David Greenwood-Sanchez which was misleading and critical of the school. Ritchie singles TCGIS out as an asset for the community, our educational system and the global stage. He highlights TCGIS's many accomplishments and advocates for its support from the community.
Free Presentation -- Power & Privilege Series at University of Minnesota on April 3
If you are in town over spring break and looking for a development opportunity, consider attending this free presentation on April 3. Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum, President Emerita of Spelman College and author of several books, including the best-selling "Why are all the black kids sitting together in the cafeteria", will give a
presentation and Q&A on April 3 at 4:00pm at the University of Minnesota's Coffman Theater. This presentation is free and open to the public. Dr. Daniel Tatum is an expert speaker on the topics of racial identity development, race and education, and strategies for creating inclusive campus environments.
