Note from Jean Behnke
Dear Parents,

Spring is coming and with that comes growth in many ways. Last year’s spring clothes no longer fit. Academic growth moves in fits and starts. Motivation wavers, soars, and then wavers again. For some, spring fever brings impatience, a desire to break out and run, late nights watching baseball, and spring sports that run into the evenings.

Head of School Search Update:

After seeking input from Crossroads' stakeholders , a position description was drafted, and our search consultant is very pleased with the strength of the candidate pool thus far. The opportunity has attracted a good number of very experienced school leaders. Through these early stages of candidate vetting, it is essential to the integrity of the process that we maintain the candidates' confidentiality. In the coming days, the Search Committee will begin to review candidate files and invite candidates for initial interviews. Once the Committee moves through this stage of candidate exploration, it will be identifying finalists and will then be able to share more specific information with the community. While it is the top priority to find the right next leader and not rush the process, the Committee should be in a position to update the community regarding finalist candidates in early April.

Admissions Update
Enrollment contracts for the 2021-2022 school year were released to the majority of current families last week. Please let me know if you have any questions about this process. It is important that you enroll by the deadline of March 24 so that the admissions office is able to plan for new student enrollees. Financial aid recipients will receive contracts on April 5 with the return date being April 19. Thanks for your prompt attention to the contracts!
Health Office Updates
COVID Updates

As of yesterday, Grafton county has 121 identified active cases of COVID-19. Lyme has zero active cases, Hanover has 28 active cases, and Lebanon has 1-4 active cases.
Water Bottles Every Day

Please remember to have your child bring a water bottle to school every day. Crossroads has excellent, clean drinking water. The heat in your homes and in our buildings may make the air very dry. Staying properly hydrated is one way to prevent headaches.
Vision Screening and Height & Weight

The NH Department of Education recommends health screenings for all school-age children. Over the next few months, students will have a screening for vision, height, and weight. The vision screening includes an acuity test for distance with a wall chart, a near vision test, a check for ocular misalignment, and a test for color discrimination defects (color blindness). Once your child has been checked for color discrimination at school, the test will not be repeated in subsequent years. Screenings are done slowly throughout the remaining part of the school year so that we may work around classroom schedules and academic time. These screenings are intended to pick up possible abnormalities or growth inconsistencies year-over-year. Most children will have normal screening results. But if there is a need for follow up, an email and letter will be sent home recommending an exam and diagnosis by a physician. If you prefer your child not participate in this year’s health screening, please be in touch with the health office: 603-795-3111 x104
Spring Break:
Return to School Information

Your child must be in New England on or before April 8 in order to resume in-person school on Monday, April 19. Crossroads will exclude students, faculty, and staff for 10 days after high-risk travel, which includes any travel outside of New England. Please be familiar with the Crossroads Pandemic Travel Policy and NH DHHS travel guidance as you consider your family’s spring travel plans.
