5Essentials Reminder
Parents have an opportunity to participate in the annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Parent Survey. Under the leadership of our new Principal, current planning for next year includes strategies based on last year’s data. However, we want to verify, affirm, or modify the work with this year’s feedback.
Dr. Hardy and the team are committed to not just reviewing the 5Essentials reports but using the data as guideposts when considering ways to address school needs.
All survey responses will be kept confidential.
The state will only provide survey results for individual schools if a school has at least 20% of parents take the survey. Currently, only 4% of Hinsdale South parents have completed the survey. March 31 is the deadline to complete the survey.
To take this short survey:
-
Visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/ (Select Parent Survey)
- Type and select “DuPage” as "County." (The county is the location of the school district's main office.)
- Type your school's name into the "School" field and select your school.
We would love to, not only, surpass the percentage needed to receive the state report, but also the reported percentage of parents that completed this survey last year (40%). Please log in today to take this quick, confidential survey about your student's building.
Thank you and South Pride!
Kari Peronto, Ed.D.

Khan Academy
Khan Academy is a free, online program designed to provide students with individualized SAT practice based off of their PSAT scores. It offers practice exercises, instructional videos, and a personalized learning dashboard that empower students to study at their own pace in and outside of the classroom.
In order to link PSAT scores to Khan Academy, juniors must access their College Board accounts. If you have checked your student’s PSAT scores, or previous AP scores, then either you, or your child, have already created a College Board account. Please check with your child to ensure that they know how to log in to their College Board accounts, as we have no way to access it if it has been created.
