This Weekly Update by the Illinois School and Campus Safety Program links to the updated guidance on public health in schools by ISBE and the IDPH, provides resources on stress and mental health during the COVID-19 pandemic, and provides information on several upcoming classes, including Digital Threat Assessment; Preparing for the Unimaginable: An In-Depth Look at Wellness, Trauma Recovery, and Resilience; Advanced Digital Threat Assessment; and Campus Emergencies Prevention, Response, and Recovery.

ISBE and IDPH Release Revised Public Health Guidance for Schools

The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) have released an updated Revised Public Health Guidance for Schools. Additionally, ISBE release a FAQ document to go along with the revised guidance.
Last Chance to Register: Digital Threat Assessment class on March 18th via Zoom

This is the last chance to register for the "Digital Threat Assessment" training on March 18, 2021, via Zoom. The goal of the Digital Threat Assessment class is to give attendees a stronger understanding of the current social media world, provide tools to be able to proactively identify student safety concerns, and provide strategies for dealing with online situations as they arise. Stress, Mental Health & Wellness, and COVID-19

As we continue into a second year plagued by COVID-19, many are feeling stressed and exhausted. We touched briefly on the topic in the Dec. 21st Weekly Update when we shared the resource Warning Signs and Risk Factors for Emotional Distress, as well as in the August 27th, April 30th, and April 2nd Weekly Updates. To continue promoting wellness, here are some additional resources.

There's Still Time To Register: Campus Emergencies Prevention, Response, and Recovery Class on March 24-25, 2021, via Zoom

There is still time to register for the "Campus Emergencies Prevention, Response, and Recovery" course on March 24-25, 2021, from 8:30am to 12:30pm via Zoom. The course aims to train personnel from PK-12 schools and institutions of higher education (IHEs), first responders, elected officials, and community stakeholders to respond to campus emergencies effectively and cooperatively during an active shooter incident. Preparing for the Unimaginable: An In-Depth Look at Wellness, Trauma Recovery, and Resilience class on April 8th via Zoom

The Illinois School and Campus Safety Program is pleased to announce the class "Preparing for the Unimaginable: An In-Depth Look at Wellness, Trauma Recovery, and Resilience" will be held from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm on April 8, 2021, via Zoom. This class is for both K-12 schools and Institutions of Higher Education, as well as law enforcement and other school and campus safety stakeholders. For more information and to register, click here.
Advanced Digital Threat Assessment Class on April 15th via Zoom

The Illinois School and Campus Safety Program is pleased to announce that a session of the "Advanced Digital Threat Assessment" training through Safer Schools Together will be held on April 15, 2021, via Zoom. Building upon the Digital Threat Assessment class, this class will leave participants with a concrete understanding of how to find and curate relevant digital information as is typically represented in a real-life digital threat assessment data gathering scenario. Major engagement and hands-on practice will take place.
