Charlotte Writers Club March 16, 2021 Meeting Recap:
On Tuesday evening, Daren Dean zoomed in from Missouri to speak about automatic writing and how getting into the flow enhances our creativity. He gave us permission to daydream, especially in the first draft stage of project.
Dean has been called "the laureate of fallen angels" and has written a short story collection and two novels (with a third due out later this year).

President Caroline Kane Kenna welcomed 45 to the club meeting,
including new members Jenni and Faye. Gennie, visual artist and speaker Daren Dean's Facebook friend, was our guest.
During social time we leaned a bit more from Daren about his current state of Missouri and his NC connections. We swapped a few limericks. Debbie's shiny green shamrock added to a festive vibe.
Co-Program Chair Dave Collins introduced Daren Dean
and his topic, Writing from the Unconscious, following his presentation, Angela Haigler, co-program chair, led a Q&A.
See the meeting recap for a summary of his talk.
If you want a copy of Daren's handout for your files contact Axel.
Bonus: Through the magic of Zoom Daren's presentation video is available for members to view for a limited time.

Slam On!
Useful Performance Poetry Techniques
Boris "Bluz" Rogers, award-winning performance poet, the Bard of Charlotte, is our speaker. He will show us how to create and present powerful slam and spoken word poetry and help us celebrate National Poetry Month.
When Rogers sits down to write, he sets out “to take words, shape them, and put them in places where they don’t necessarily belong” in order to create visuals that will allow his audience to see the world in new ways. The long list of awards and the recognition he has garnered provides ample evidence of how thoroughly he has succeeded: four Emmy Awards, six Poetry in Motion Awards, three times National Poetry Slam Champion as well as Southern Slam Grand Champion.

Poetry Results Are Coming in April!
Darrell Horwitz will announce the winners our Poetry Contest and the top finishing poets will read their verse. Ashley Lumpkin is the judge.
