Dear Maria Community,

Here is the latest information on the College’s response to the dynamic Covid-19 situation.

Academics:
  • As was reported yesterday, beginning Monday, March 23, 2020, all classes and core educational activities at Maria College will be delivered through digital technologies throughout the remainder of the spring semester.

  • Student support services is conducting a survey of student access to technology (See below). Please complete this as soon as possible so resources can be identified to assist with the transition to fully online learning.

  • Covid-19 Clinical Guidance is being issued to nursing clinical supervisors on the changing dynamic of nursing clinicals.

  • Freshman nursing clincials are being suspended for the time being. Freshman will have the opportunity to make up the clinical hours in alternate settings as they progress through the program.

  • Senior nursing clinicals are continuing under guidance for the Covid-19 situation. Any senior student who has concerns about their clinical placement can reach out to the nursing department clinical supervisor. Nursing Department leadership is addressing concerns about situations for students or faculty for whom clinical assignments are not appropriate on a case-by-case basis.
 
Student Support Services:

  • A technology survey is being issued to all students at this time. Students are encouraged to participate in a brief survey about their technological needs and access to devices and internet connection. This information will be kept confidential and used only to better inform the College of the types of technological resources that students can access.

Student Financial Services Office:

Starting March 16, 2020 we have transitioned to mailing paper refund checks to students. Please take this time to sign up for direct deposit through the Nelnet portal or verify the mailing address on file with the college is accurate.
  • Students can review and make changes to their mailing address through the My Maria/My Profile (gold tab) Portal.
  • All Federal aid disbursements will continue as scheduled.
  • Students are encouraged to fax or email documents to Student Financial Services

  • Payment plans will continue to be set up online through the Nelnet portal (My Maria portal). The steps for setting up a payment plan agreement through Nelnet (the Maria College billing portal) are as follows:

  • Log onto: http://www.mariacollege.edu/ and click on MyMaria (top of the page)
  • Click on View Details in the My Finance box
  • Click on Make a Payment. You have the option to make a one-time payment or set up a monthly payment plan agreement. If you have not logged into the portal previously, it will ask you to review your contact information and add a phone number to set up your account.
  • Payment in full or partial payments on student accounts can be made online.
  • As a reminder, students must have their balance for the Spring 2020 semester paid in full, set up on a payment plan, or have their employer tuition reimbursement form submitted (if applicable) to Student Financial Services by March 20, 2020.

Campus Development Plan:
  • Work will be resuming on the Campus Development Plan in the coming days and weeks. Brickwork was begun today by the entrance – please use caution if you are using the main vehicle entryway.

Building maintenance and access
  • Access into the Main Building and Marian Hall will be limited to two doors:
  • Main Building – entrance off New Scotland Ave., and entrance near the Campus Store
  • Marian Hall – Door 1 near the Main Parking Lot, and at the handicapped entrance on the West side of the buildin

  • Cleaning and Disinfecting per State DoH guidelines is being performed. Routine cleaning of includes:
  • Cleaning high contact surfaces that are touched by many different people, such as light switches, handrails and doorknobs/handles.
  • Dust- and wet-mopping or auto-scrubbing floors.
  • Vacuuming of entryways and high traffic areas.
  • Removing trash.
  • Cleaning restrooms.
  • Wiping heat and air conditioner vents.
  • Spot cleaning walls.
  • Spot cleaning carpets.
  • Dusting horizontal surfaces and light fixtures.
  • Cleaning spills.

Business Office
  • Business Office activities will continue as normal, with mail delivery, accounts payable functions operations ongoing. We are developing an electronic process to assist remote processing, but in the meanwhile please use the current processes.

Human Resources:

 

General:

  • Please use the Helpdesk system to report issues to be addressed by Facilities, IT, and Payroll.

IF YOU’RE NOT FEELING WELL:

Please communicate with the appropriate personnel at Maria (see the website) if you need to report any Coronavirus exposure.

  • New York has established a COVID-19 Hotline, which can provide additional information. Call 1-888-364-3065 with questions or concerns.
  • People are asked to phone ahead to their primary care provider before visiting an office or hospital to seek treatment
  • If you have been told to self-quarantine, or if a member of your household is doing that, please let Andrew Ledoux know
  • If someone in your household tests positive, please also share that information with Andrew.
