Creative chalk artwork Invites People to Christ the King, Quincy
This Celtic cross was drawn in chalk on the sidewalk in front of Christ the King Episcopal Church in Quincy, by local artist Lucinda Wood, to attract passers by to enjoy the art, consider the faith of St Patrick, and notice the church. Wood also wrote a brief story of St Patrick’s life in chalk along the sidewalk that leads to the door of the church, which begins “Patrick was kidnapped by pirates at age 16 from Britain…and sold as a slave in Ireland.” “After escaping, he returned to Ireland, years later, to bring the good news of Jesus! That’s a life worth celebrating!” said Lucinda. This is one of a series of sidewalk chalk drawings Wood is doing to raise the visibility of their tucked-away church, and bring joy to those who walk by.
Deacon Mark Dibelka honored for disaster resilience work in Shasta County
On Sunday March 17, Betty Harrison-Smith, head of outreach ministries for All Saints’ Redding, presented Deacon Mark Dibelka with a token of appreciation for his disaster resilience work in Shasta County. The far north state has had natural disasters for years. Historic disasters included flooding on the Sacramento River, wildfires, landslides, earthquakes, the 1918 pandemic and damage caused by living in the shadow of two active volcanoes. Betty presented Deacon Mark with a copy of the 2024 Shasta Historical Society’s calendar which highlights historic disasters in Shasta County. Deacon Mark’s work has made all of our diocese more prepared than before to face disasters.

Election Engagement Workshop
The CIM Advocacy Team will present a webinar for clergy and lay leaders on April 2 at 7:00 PM to go over The Vote Faithfully Election Engagement 2024 Toolkit.
“It is a Christian obligation to vote, and more than that, it is the church’s responsibility to help get souls to the polls.” - Presiding Bishop Michael Curry
There is so much at stake in this year's elections, locally and nationally. The Episcopal Church has long stood for voting rights and secure elections. The church’s Office of Government Relations, in partnership with other faith based organizations, has created an excellent tool to facilitate you and your church’s efforts to encourage and enable all eligible residents in your community to vote.
