Cold and Flu Season Tips:
Personal Hygiene:  It is cold and flu season. As you have been reading, there is also an outbreak of the novel Coronavirus. As per guidelines issued by the NYC Department of Health, students should PLEASE take the following steps to prevent the spread of infection.

CDC recommends washing hands with soap and water whenever possible because handwashing reduces the amounts of all types of germs and chemicals on hands. But if soap and water are not available, using a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol can help you avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. The guidance for effective handwashing and use of hand sanitizer in community settings was developed based on data from a number of studies.
  • Cover your mouth or nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) if you cough or sneeze.

  • Wash your hands thoroughly and frequently throughout the day and especially after you have coughed or sneezed. Use soap and water, or an alcohol-based sanitizer if soap is not available.

  • During the school day, see the nurse if you feel unwell.

  • Do not come to school if you have a fever or are feeling sick. Tell your parents and make sure to see a doctor.

  • Although the Centers for Disease Control do not recommend that healthy individuals wear a face mask, you are permitted to do at school if you wish.
We would appreciate it if parents and guardians could reinforce the recommendations made above.
Thank you very much.
