This is another prayer written by an AP Literature student at ECA’s upper school. Before Spiritual Enrichment Week began, students chose a topic and wrote a prayer using the literary pattern they studied in the Book of Common Prayer. They focused on reflecting reverence (the fear of the Lord) and awe in their prayers.
Almighty God,
We thank you and praise you for everything that you have blessed us with. We thank you for bestowing unmerited grace upon us through your Son, Jesus Christ, and we specifically ask for your provision and special blessing upon the class of 2021. We pray against spiritual and educational apathy, and ask that you provide avenues for stimulation of their hearts and minds; enable them to pursue knowledge of you and a relationship with you relentlessly, and grant them harmony of mind and in their friendships. We ask all these things through your Son, our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, who will reign on high evermore.
During Spiritual Enrichment Week , one elementary class had an intentional and meaningful discussion of John 13 and the purpose behind Jesus washing the feet of his disciples . In response, as a song about God’s grace and love played in the background, the teacher knelt on the floor and washed the feet of each of her students and prayed over them individually . It was a beautiful expression of God’s great love and a moment the students will likely remember all their lives . During the special time, another teacher stopped and asked if she could wash the classroom teacher’s feet and all of the students surrounded her, laid their hands on her, and prayed .
The teacher shared her thoughts, “I don't think I've ever experienced a more beautiful moment with my students, and the response was overwhelming. Many of them sat with tears in their eyes and all of them gave me hugs and sincere thanks at the end. I have heard from some parents that it was the first thing their child shared with them when they got home and one mom said her son was so moved he cried when he told her the story.”

Dear Berkeley Hills families,

Thank to all the parents and families who came to the elementary musical. It was exciting to see the students honoring and glorifying God with their musical gifts.

Special thanks to Mrs. Snavely and Ms. McShane for all their efforts directing our students in the performance.
