FAMILY PROMISE
Dayspring continues to work with the Family Promise ministry to help families needing a temporary safe place to call home. We host families at the church for an entire week, four times a year. The first week of hosting in 2022 is next week, March 27 - April 2. You can best support this ministry by signing up as an overnight host. We need two hosts each night. You are also invited to provide encouragement by leading fun evening activities through the week days (Cookie decorating and game times have been favorites). This ministry helps you make connections, listen to stories of perseverance, and simply provide a reassuring presence. Your creativity, energy, and time will be well spent in helping kids and their parents create positive memories as families facing really tough situations.

Volunteer opportunities include room set up, tear downs, meal prep/clean up, and overnight hosting. To sign up or ask questions, please email Maria or Howard.
REFUGEE FOCUS
The Refugee Ministry is collecting donations to help support Gathering Humanity, a local non-profit which works directly with all of the resettlement agencies in order to provide newly arriving refugees with basic household items. On their behalf, we're collecting:

  • Small household items- lamps, all kitchen & bathroom items, towels, twin/double/queen sheets (no king size)
  • Kids books & toys
  • Baby items
  • Backpacks, duffle bags and tote bags

You may deliver donations to the office or directly to:
Gathering Humanity Warehouse
510 S 52nd St #107, Tempe, AZ 85281
Open Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday mornings from 9:30 to noon.

Please mention Dayspring UMC at drop-off!
ASYLUM SEEKERS MINISTRY
We are still collecting pants, shirts, blouses, leggings, socks, underwear, belts and shoes for men and women. We need mostly small and medium items and shoes size 10 and smaller. All items should be new or gently used. They may be left off at the Church Office or you may call Pastor Jim O’Neal at (602) 579-3490 to arrange a pickup.

Also, the International Rescue Committee Center is in urgent need of more volunteers. They are seeing several hundred asylum seekers and refugees each day. Volunteers are needed for a wide variety of tasks including transportation, sorting donations, translators (Spanish or Portuguese) and medical assistance. Please contact Volunteer Coordinator, Eliana Carrera at (602) 813-6576.
STEPHEN MINISTRY
Stephen Ministers are highly trained members of our congregation who listen, care, encourage, and provide emotional and spiritual support. The care they give is confidential, free, and very helpful. To learn how to receive care from - a Stephen Minister, call the church office at (480) 838-1446 or email them HERE.
