Replacing Your Entry Door


Replacing entry doors with security doors is one of lowest cost, highest return, home improvement projects for homeowners. 
A new front door will give your home better curb appeal, increased security and has an excellent return on investment.

According to the Cost vs. Value Report the average cost of a replacement entry door that is made out of fiberglass is approximately $2,800, while a steel security door can cost about $1,200. Both of these options will recuperate over 70% of the initial cost. A steel door will recuperate about 98% of the initial value, which is unprecedented.

Choosing the Right Contractor

If you are considering improvements to your home in this spring, please use the following checklist when selecting a contractor. Your home is likely your most valuable investment - price is only one factor when selecting a company to do the work.
Know the right questions to ask:
CONTRACTOR CHECKLIST
Does your company have general liability Insurance and Workman's Comp?
Will your company's insurance agent provide me with verification of insurance?
What sort of  warranty  do you provide for work and materials?
Is the warranty transferable to future owners?
Does your industry require a  license ? If so, is the license holder on staff?
Can your company assist in insurance claims?
Will I be able to remain on the premises during the repair?
Can you provide me with a list of customers for references?
Do I still pay the price on your estimate even if the job takes longer than expected?
Is it your responsibility to clean up any mess made on my property?
Will you follow up once the job is completed to check on the quality of the work?
Also, make sure you ask how long the current company has been in business under the same name and ownership.
