Live Active Summit
Save the Date! April 6th, 7th & 8th 2017 
The Live Active Summit  is a catalyst to educate, engage and bring to life active living, active recreation and sport in a school and community setting. Leading up to the summit, we are hosting the Live Active Social in collaboration with the Edmonton Sport Council. Held on Wednesday April 4th at the Yellowhead Brewery, this is an opportunity to meet, connect and collaborate with like-minded people to discuss societal issues surrounding living active. Saturday April 8th is the Edmonton All Access Day. Facilities, organizations and clubs in Edmonton will be opening their doors and offering FREE sport and physical activity opportunities! Shaping the Future 2018
Pan-Canadian School Health Summit

SAVE THE DATE: February 1st - February 4th, 2018
School health and student well-being is an ongoing conversation with national interest. In this spirit, we are excited to announce that 2018 will bring Shaping the Future to Lake Louise and to a National stage! The Pan-Canadian School Health Summit will build upon other provincial and national events to continue the conversation on positive, inspiring and evidence-based initiatives occurring across Canada. Leaders in education, health, active living, research and policy will gather from across the country to contribute to shared work and build a network of support for healthy school communities.

Partnerships with OPHEA from Ontario, DASH BC from British Columbia, Saskatchewan In Motion, the Joint Consortium for School Health and Physical and Health Education Canada afford an opportunity to amplify the importance of wellness in schools across Canada and coordinate action across provinces.

Professional Learning Opportunities
As Teachers' Conventions are nearing an end this week with wellness sessions including Activity-permissive Learning Environments and Daily Physical Activity to Support School-wide Wellness, we are starting to wrap up and are encouraging those who attended to fill out a quick survey; we'd love your feedback! We are offering a Follow-up Package with the biggest take-aways, links to follow up and contact information of our session facilitators. Apart from Teachers' Conventions, we are pleased to offer mentorship and professional learning throughout the year! With Spring beginning on the 20th, we've got a spring in our step and we're starting to think about spring run clubs! Alberta Health Services Nutrition Toolkit
March is National Nutrition Month! "Let's make a change, one meal at a time." Alberta Health Services is encouraging all of us to challenge our eating habits in a realistic way: change doesn't happen overnight, but with small steps and nudges in the right direction, we can move towards a manageable, balanced, sustainable and healthy diet. "Small changes can produce big results."

Healthy Active Schools Symposia

We are ending the Provincial Tour supporting student leadership and healthy school communities in Whitecourt! If you haven't yet, it's not too late to register.

Communities Choosewell Healthy Symposia
Join Communities ChooseWell on March 20th and 21st in Edmonton, and on March 22nd and 23rd in Calgary for thier first Provincial Symposia! Be inspired by influential leaders in health promotion, while connecting and engaging with other advocates working to address healthy eating and active living in Alberta.
The event is free to attend for anyone who is interested in improving wellbeing in their community. For more information, click here.
Communities ChooseWell is a free program of the Alberta Recreation and Parks Association that supports 'Wellness Champions' to develop partnerships, programs, polices and infrastructure that foster active living and healthy eating in their communities. Click here to register.

Active For Life is offering two new resources for Early Years and Elementary School ages. These resources surround the importance of developing physical literacy in youth.
