Be Encouraged
As we pray to live fruitful lives worthy of the Lord, let's look at the first snapshot of our Proverbs 31 mentor-- Her Title and Value. (PW31 will be my abbreviation for Proverbs Wife or Pastor's Wife :)
Her Title
31:10a An excellent wife who can find?
The question is for all spiritual, capable and virtuous wives. This excellent wife is to be distinguished by her actions and attitudes. We will find our mentor combines her actions with the fruit of the Spirit. That combination reminds me of my mother's words when she asked me to do a household chore. "I don't want you to just clean the refrigerator, I want you to have a great attitude doing it." I continue to hear the Spirit remind me of that challenge.
Her Value
31:10b She is far more precious than jewels.
What beautiful words to express the value of one's life! Our excellent mentor is considered more precious than jewels or expensive item. As we look at her upcoming snapshots, they may not seem spectacular enough to warrant such value. Without fanfare, it will be in the convergence of her actions and attitudes where such beauty and value grow.
Precious pastors' wives, "let's consider how we can spur one another on toward love and good deeds and all the more as you see the Day approaching." (Heb.10:24-25)
Encouraging application
- Look in the mirror of your life and ministry. Praise the Lord for where you see growth as an excellent pastor's wife. Ask Him for specific ways to grow in fruitful actions and attitudes.
- Be encouraged that the Lord values you so highly.
