Eversheds Sutherland attorneys help us provide our Super Saturday tax preparation events where persons who earned less than $54,000 in 2016 can get their taxes prepared for free. Annual Breakfast Fundraiser - Purchase Your Tickets!

Join us for a morning of inspiration! TCWFI serves families that operate on limited resources and, who through their commitment, embody perseverance. Through our services, families create plans to work toward their deepest economic desires. You will have an opportunity to meet these incredible people who, in partnership with TCWFI, continue to persist toward goals despite multi-layered challenges.

We also want you to test your financial savvy during a simulated Day In The Life experience that is sure to channel coffee and conversation into action.

Classes have begun 

We have officially launched training programs at the Center! On Februa ry 6 we enrolled over 40 candidates in our STRIVE and Construction Ready training programs. 

STRIVE International has a 30 year proven track record of successful training, job placement and job retention. The program has placed participants in over 20,000 jobs. We graduated 29 students of our first cohort on Friday, March 3. See photos from graduation here. Learn more about the STRIVE curriculum here.
Construction Ready  at TCWFI equips participants with the fundamental tools, long term s u pports and access to jumpstart careers in construction and mixer driver. In its pilot year, 60 res idents were trained in Construction, earning over eight (8) nationally  recognized certifications. The
Construction Ready training is a partnership between The Center for Working Families and the Construction Education Foundation of Georgia.  This program is made possible with the support of The Atlanta CareerRise, Workforce Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA) funds provided by  the Atlanta Workforce Development Agency and The Annie E. Casey Foundation.

Since 2009 TCWFI has participated in United Way of Greater Atlanta's Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) campaign, resulting in more than $10 million returned to the community in tandem with a suite of financial literacy and asset building supports. In 2016, TCWFI was the second highest VITA site in Atlanta, preparing more than 1,300 returns for residents, free of charge; contributing over $1.8 million back into the community with more than $940,000 in earned income tax credit returned to low to moderate income working individuals and couples.
Atlanta Housing Authority Housing Choice Voucher - Waiting list Open
On the dates mentioned below, we will help residents apply for the Atlanta Housing Authority Housing Choice Voucher Program. Registration is not required. Call us with any questions at: 404-223-3303.

Cooking Matters at The Center for Working Families
As part of the Share Our Strength No Kid Hungry campaign, Cooking Matters helps families shop for and cook healthy meals on a budget. The Center for Working Families is partnering with local Cooking Matters lead, Open Hand to present a six week class where students will explore how to cook budget efficient and healthy recipes for the whole family. Students who graduate from the class will receive a grocery stipend. This is an exclusive opportunity for our participants.  We will host orientation on March 28, 2017.

Dwight Howard Foundation sponsors Two Generation Families
On January 27, 2017 Atlanta Hawks' Center, Dwight Howard and his foundation, the D12 Foundation invited members of our Two Generation program to attend a home game against the Washington Wizards. The outing provided families an opportunity to fellowship. 

The Two Generation (2Gen) approach focuses on creating positive outcomes for both parent and child simultaneously. 2Gen parents receive the following services:
  • All services and support related to Coaching
  • DECAL child care subsidy
  • Healthcare Navigator
  • Co-coaching in partnership with Sheltering Arms Dunbar (Educare)
  • Social capital opportunities

Employer Spotlight: American Building  Maintenance Company
ABM located at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport  is committed to  partnering with non-profit agencies in the community that seek to provide employment opportunities to job-seekers. ABM recently partnered with TCWFI  to host hiring events on March 2 & 10 . From this hiring event,  TCWFI participants were hired on the spot for full-time Custodial Supervisor positions at $12.00 per/hour with benefits available after meeting their 90 probationary period. This event proved to be a success because TCWFI clients were hired at an affordable living wage and they may began to create a financially stable path for their families.
