JURY DUTY
This Newsletter is about 7 days late because I got a JURY DUTY Summons.
For those of you from other countries, "Jury Duty" , is considered our responsibility to fulfill here in the US. We are called to serve on a jury
to hear civil or criminal cases.
A "Jury Of One's Peers" is one of the Hallmarks of our legal system. It insures
that no king or despot can inflict a verdict or punishment without a legal process
that includes ordinary citizens hearing the evidence and making a determination
"without a shadow of a doubt" about guilt or innocence of a person/Organization
requesting a Jury Trial.
In the US we dread receiving a Jury Duty Summons. We hate having our lives disrupted possibly for months if we are selected for a Jury. My father in law
served on a jury for over 6 months in a criminal case.
I have never served. I've been summoned but never selected for a Jury. Once
the Defense or the Prosecution hears my background they fear I will have a bias
based on my training or connection to the Court System. So I normally get dismissed in the first two phases of Jury Selection.
The fun of Jury Duty, if there is one, is you get to meet people in your community you would not meet normally. Everyone no matter background or
salary gets summoned. It's one of those times when you cannot live in
a "like kind" bubble; you are in a pool of people different from yourself.
I met a lot of interesting people {and was dissed by one of them!}
But overall it was a good experience and one that has me happy to
be living under the US legal system where you are innocent until
proven guilty! In a lot of countries, as you know, you are actually
seen as guilty until you prove your innocence.
To say I was impressed with the Judge and the 2 opposing attorneys
would be an understatement. Clearly they were well trained in interacting with
potential Jurors.
What I worried about after being dismissed was how many of my fellow
potential jurors were in massive pain because of past life experiences.
About 6 or 18 of jury pool had experienced sexual abuse either themselves
or their children. One had a severe head injury which led to short term
memory loss so bad that even with notes he could not find his car in
the parking lot.
A few had been in a traumatic situation that left a lasting problem not the
least of which was the possibility of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder diagnosis.
Just being in the court room was enough to bring it up.
Then there were the families of law enforcement personnel who
were in the Jury pool. Their law enforcement family members could not
serve but they could. Trust me, the family is also law enforcement
and so the Defense Attorney peppered them with questions.
Many were sent home as I was, because of our proximity to law
enforcement or because they could not put aside who they were
to only consider the evidence in this case.
At first when the Defense Attorney called my name to dismiss me
I felt a lot of relief that my entire schedule would not be up ended
for weeks.
Then I was left with concern for some of my fellow Jurors who were
staying to be part of this Jury. I hope they do well and I hope
they will not let this experience negatively effect their lives.
Out in the parking lot I found the juror with the short term memory loss
wandering around looking for his car. I helped as much as I could and wrote
down a strategy to help him find his car. Hopefully he did find it and
hopefully he found his way home.
So when you are called for Jury Duty be proud because Juries are the heart
of our entire legal system. They are part of the checks & balances of
the misuse of power and the people who do serve are brave and true
patriots!

Here are the 3 options graduates can use to attend WMF® again:
Attending Advanced Women Moving Forward®
The 2 day workshop will have you focus on:
Your purpose in life and how to live a more purposeful life.
Completing your old Declarations of Self
Creating new Declarations of Self
Reviewing
In this option you are actually a full participant. You do a pre-call and pre-work and participate as a full participant!
You will need to be present for all 3 days and do all the workshop exercises.
The cost is 50% of the total cost of the workshop. So here in the US reviewing currently costs $1875
Observing
In this option you sit at the Observer Table and do the exercises from that vantage point. You can "observe" where you are now and where you need to be next. You participate only silently from the back of the room.
Observing affords you the flexibility to come and go as you please (except during the completion exercise).
You do not participate fully and only speak to the room if asked to by Susan
The cost to Observe is $250 in the US and $450 in other countries.
In every workshop we do we have limited spaces for Reviewers and for Observers.
If you think you will want to Observe or Review please let us know so we can reserve your space.

For those of you who want to attend The Women's
Leadership Retreat® for the first time in 2016 there is
now a prerequisite; Advanced Women Moving Forward®
We use to be able to do a make-up day for The Retreat®
to cover all of the previous year's concepts.
This is not possible any longer. With 60+ pages of
concepts to learn before the first day of The Retreat®
we must have another way to get potential attendees
up to the current year's concepts.
The 2 day format will cover:
1. The participant will start to identify or identify
their purpose in life.
2. The participant will know the properties of purpose
3. The participant will know how this supports their
work and how to maximize their work contribution
using their purpose
4. The participant will know and know how to use
intention to attain higher levels of productivity.
5. The participant will be able to bring in to being
bigger results using their knowledge of Creation,
Intention and Purpose.

1. Any woman who is a graduate of
Women Moving Forward® and who wants to
improve her productivity and lead a more purposeful life.

OBSERVING
Observing is a WMF® graduate program that includes
attending the workshop and looking at how far
you have come since taking the workshop. It also helps
you to keep the learnings you got as impactful as they were
when you took
the workshop.
The side benefit of Observing is supporting the women
attending by modeling what it is to complete the workshop.
If you would like to Observe any of the community based
workshops in 2011 all you need to do is contact us to make
a reservation and pay the $250 fee. Seats in each
workshop are limited and are given on a first come
first serve basis.
Four Graduates in Europe Observed the Frankfurt workshop
last year.
You do not have to be at all three days of the workshop.
You can be at one day or several or you can come for an afternoon.
The schedule is up to you when you Observe.
Some Graduates bring their workshop buddies with them
to Observe and some bring their old notebooks!
