2018 has started fast and furious! First and foremost, we'd like to welcome our newest member of the Chamber Team! Jessica Wrench has officially started as our new Education and Resource Coordinator. In this role, she'll be coordinating Leadership Cayuga, the Finger Lakes Grant Information Center, and the Chamber's educational programming. Welcome Jessica!
in January we hosted a Public Affairs Forum with speaker Colleen Deacon, Governor Cuomo's Central New York representative. During this presentation, Ms. Deacon provided an overview of the Governor's State of the State Address and listened to feedback and questions from the audience. Then we had a fantastic Business at Noon at the YMCA, which about 50 people in attended to hear about YMCA programs and network. Then Restaurant Week was a great success, with 13 Chamber Restaurants offering great deals to the community.

Hollywood's elite are getting behind Finger Lakes Textiles, a subdivision of Arc of Seneca Cayuga that employs people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in an integrated work environment.  "A time existed when persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities were virtually invisible," shares Arctic Gear's website, which is striving to make a difference in the world - one hat at a time. "The hats are completely American made and for over 20 years, have been keeping the U.S. Armed Forces warm and protected in all climates. The profits from each hat sale go directly back into Arc of Seneca Cayuga's programs and operations to create a self-sustaining charity," the site continues to explain.

The Auburn Doubledays, short season single A affiliate of the Washington Nationals, are pleased to announce the release of their schedule for the 2018 season. The Doubledays are celebrating their 60th year in the NYPL this year. The Doubledays have seen 29 players reach the major leagues in the last 7 years of affiliation with the Nationals including all-star Anthony Rendon, Wilmer Difo, and Andrew Stevenson from this years Nationals roster.  READ MORE

"In anticipation of this special year, we are looking back at our achievements and accomplishments, the incredible history and leadership that built the organization while also relishing the present moment.  In turn, we will look ahead to the next 60 years and announce some exciting news and initiatives. With a commitment to entertainment and education, we have put together a season that will deliver dynamic theatrical experiences for the entire family. This Anniversary is about celebrating legacy and our incredible relationship with our community."

LNB (The Lyons National Bank) opened its second full-service branch in Cayuga County. The grand opening event took place at 311 Grant Avenue Rd. on Saturday, February 17.  "We welcome visitors to tour the new two-story branch, including the community room and see large murals of area landscapes by local photographer, John Francis McCarthy." At the celebration, guests had an opportunity to enter to win Bonus Bucks - cash certificates that can be spent at merchants in the local community. Throughout the day there was door prize giveaways, sketching from an area artist, food from local providers, and more. LNB also offered grand opening savings specials that were exclusive to their two Cayuga County branches.   READ MORE
