 MYTH OR TRUTH?

Our supporters oftentimes act as ambassadors of Habitat Cape Cod, educating others about our organization. This section of the e-news is dedicated to interesting facts and clearing up misconceptions about Habitat.

Was Habitat for Humanity founded by former President Jimmy Carter?

This is a very common misconception. In fact, Habitat was founded in 1976 in Georgia by Millard and Linda Fuller.  President Carter and his wife Rosalynn began volunteering for Habitat in 1984. Each year they participate in the high impact  Jimmy Carter Work Project to help build houses and raise awareness of the critical need for affordable homes and Habitat's work in the US and around the world.

Judith and Bill Page, Marilyn Nouri and Donna Baldwin are just a few from Habitat Cape Cod that have worked side by side with the Carters building homes internationally.
