For some time, we have been offering both Europa and Neptune models with a rewind option, for use with digital foils and other such applications.
The rewind function assists with maintaining web tension, carrying the sheets through to the machine exit and rewinding the foil after use.
Most foil suppliers offer a roll width of 300-320mm, with wider widths very occasionally available. At D&K we have started to roll out a programme of digital foil supply and are bringing in master rolls for conversion, so in addition to the standard sizes offered we will be able to supply customised widths, lengths and core sizes, subject on occasions to volume considerations.
Initially our range will be limited to just 4 varieties – Gold, Silver, Blue and Magenta whilst our standard widths will encompass those currently available in the market and introduce a narrow roll to reduce waste when foiling a small area.
Our foil is a little thicker than most in the market, both in terms of the base film and the coating. The thicker base film can help prevent/reduce shrinkage from the heat giving better stability during use whilst the thicker coating should give a generally better result.
Recommendations for working conditions will differ depending on the application method and
as our experience grows we will be happy to issue appropriate guidelines.
We are also working on stand-alone foiling units for those customers unable or unwilling to add a rewind unit to their laminator, as well as a simple roll cutting unit and will supply further details of these in due course.
