Spring is a time for new beginnings!
|
|
You are in 100% control of your life and your future.
With Spring beginning, it's good to take inventory of your life and see what areas you can improve on and what your strengths are.
Identify what opportunities are available to you and which ones present themselves as a threat to you meeting your goals. Make some changes when necessary and keep your goal(s) in focus.
Do a SWOT analysis of your life, including your educational aspects, to see where your strengths are in order to continuing honing those skills.
S
- Strengths
W
- Weaknesses
O
- Opportunities
T
- Threats
It's also important to identify your weaknesses, to learn how to enhance them and turn them into a strength or how to utilize another resource to enhance that weakness. With opportunities, take a look and review areas (opportunities) that you can capture and make you stand out. With regards to threats, is there any area of your life that you feel is pulling you down or putting a barrier to where you need to move forward? Identify those and use the resources that are at your fingertips to remove those threats. For example, if you are having any mental health issues or hardships, we have counseling available to you through EIC
.

Eastern International College Updates
|
|
Eastern International College has been carefully monitoring the reports and updated guidance coming from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH).
While there is no cause for immediate concern, we are writing today to address the topic of how our College would respond to a possible outbreak of COVID-19 (coronavirus). Although we have not been given any special direction from the New Jersey Department of Education or the New Jersey Department of Health, we recognize that schools have a high potential for contributing to the spread of communicable disease and therefore have a responsibility to protect the public health through strategic school operations.
There are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in New Jersey at this time. We continue to emphasize the importance of avoiding assumptions about who may or may not have come into contact with someone carrying the virus based on their identity.
Accordingly, Eastern International College is developing a contingency plan for a possible scenario in which school closures become necessary to protect the public health from COVID-19, flu or any other pathogen.
About Coronavirus
CDC is responding to an outbreak of respiratory disease caused by a novel (new) coronavirus that was first detected in Wuhan City, Hubei Province, China and which has now been detected in 50 locations internationally, including cases in the United States. The virus has been named “SARS-CoV-2” and the disease it causes has been named “coronavirus disease 2019” (abbreviated “COVID-19”).
On January 30, 2020, the International Health Regulations Emergency Committee of the World Health Organization declared the outbreak a “
public health emergency of international concern
” (PHEIC). On January 31, 2020, Health and Human Services Secretary Alex M. Azar II declared a public health emergency (PHE) for the United States to aid the nation’s healthcare community in responding to COVID-19.
Symptoms
For confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases, reported illnesses have ranged from mild
symptoms
to severe illness and death.
Symptoms can include:
- Fever
- Cough
- Shortness of breath
Steps to take to Protect Yourself
The
actions
you take and plans you make today make a difference. Here are some important steps for protecting yourself and others from getting and spreading the flu at home:
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Cover your coughs and sneezes.
- Wash your hands.
- Clean frequently touched surfaces and objects.
- Be prepared and informed.
Consult the NJ Department of Health hotline for questions and concerns regarding COVID-19 at 800-222-1222.
We look forward to staying in communication with you as this situation unfolds

Our Dental Hygiene Program
gives back to our community!
|
|
On February 7th, our Dental Hygiene Department provided free services to the children of our community. Children from local charter schools benefited from the "Give a Kids a Smile" event. Children received free teeth cleanings, xrays, and sealants.
Eastern International College is proud to be a sponsor of this great event. Thank you to Dr. Alaa, her team, and all of the students who participated.

Dr. Rosales, Nursing Chair for Jersey City, hosted a Pinning Ceremony for our Nurses.
The excitement was felt in the room as the students waited for their names to be called after all their hard work. Families were proud and captured the moment with photos to hang onto the memories.
