Mr. Burd by Jada Dorm
Did you know Mr. Burd was more than just a principal. Mr. Burd was an assistant to the superintendent. He also was a principal at Stony Brook and North Hills. He loved doing science. His class was also on TV. He decided to be a principal because he wanted to get to know all the students. Mr. Burd enjoys being with kids. He retired in 2015. He has been working in schools for 39 years. Fun Fact--did you know Mrs. Snare and Mr. Burd were hired the same day by Central York? I hoped you learned a lot from my story about Mr. Burd.
House of Cards Stem Project by Sofia Tesfaye
On February first, the green hallway's vertical team did a STEM project. The STEM project helped the learners use their creativity. When I interviewed Mrs. Slatt she said, "We do STEM to help learners in many different ways." She shared this quote as she explained why doing STEM was important, "It is making sense of problems and persevering in them." The quote means to keep on trying when you don't get it the first time. In this particular STEM project you had to use lots of creativity because making a house of cards is not easy.
POWER Hour by Ashton Barr
All the Red Hallway had Power Hour where they go to different classes and do different activities. They do "Go Noodle," tech, drawing, or watch a movie. It gives the learners a reward for all the hard work they have done. Kids have fun instead of doing their normal subjects. Kids are looking forward to their next POWER Hour!
