Welcome to all of you who are already subscribed and those of you who are new subscribers. Happy International Astrology Day, which occurs officially on the Vernal Equinox (this year March 20) but is marked by events throughout March. We are heading into the start of difficult planetary weather over the next few months, which involves Saturn, Pluto and the Nodes converging, so hold on to your horses, and do as much meditation, affirmations, and giving service as you can. I say giving service because in India giving to others is the easiest way to provide remediation for difficult astrological times, or specifically for your chart. These will be discussed later in the month as the aspects get closer.
Scroll down for information about Mercury Retrograde. This year Mercury stations retrograde and direct totally within March so scroll down below for information about that as well as mention of Uranus moving into tropical Aries and the Nodes moving into Sidereal Gemini-Sagittarius.
Scroll down to register for a new series--
Advanced Topics in Jyotisa-- that begin Saturday March 30,
which also include material you can use for the ACVA certification. Be sure to ask me about individual tutoring, especially towards ACVA certification. New beginners classes will start in the fall.
Scroll down to purchase the recordings (both mp4 audio-visual and mp3 audio) and 50-plus handouts for my almost 4-hour 2019 Sensitive Degrees Webinar.
You will get the link within 48 hours of purchase. Remember that there are still 10 months in the year plus a bit about the 2020 aspects to come so it is still relevant. Scroll down to get the recordings.
Scroll further down for my upcoming appearances, which include several New York and New Jersey appearances. Any lecture on the Nodes will include tropical and Indian interpretations. As each event approaches I will send out a separate email. But please do not subscribe if you do not want to attend or purchase recordings. You can simply delete the email until the next planetary weather newsletter.
March is always an important month for many reasons. The Vernal Equinox takes place this year at March 20th, 9:58 PM GMT. For tropicalists, this indicates the start of Aries, but for the siderealists it is just an astronomical phenomenon, which once indicated the start of Aries in the days when the zodiacs coincided before precession of the equinoxes presented the problem of the sidereal and tropical zodiacs separating. So there are still festivals in India which acknowledge the equinoxes and solstices that have nothing to do with astrology, but more to do with astronomy.
Rather than doing a chart for the equinox, Indians celebrate the new year with the Chaitra Shukla Pratipad Chart, which is drawn for the New Moon in sidereal Pisces or literally the New Moon in the month of Chaitra. While this is the chart Indians use to begin the year, you can use that chart for any country capital to look at that particular country, since the aspects will be in check for the entire year. This year that New Moon occurs on April 5th at 8:50 AM GMT. We will be speaking about that in the April newsletter.
If you wish to sign up for a reading, you can do that by clicking to the left. Also remember that you can get notices from me through Twitter

And please remember that by staying subscribed to this newsletter, in addition to monthly newsletters about planetary weather, you will also get separate newsletters about horoscope sales, classes, webinars, etc., so if you are not interested in learning astrology, but do want to read the news each month, please do not unsubscribe, just delete the advertisements when they arrive.

March 2019 Musings
Mercury stations retrograde and direct totally within March.
Mercury stations retrograde on March 5, 2019 at 6:18 PM GMT at tropical 29° Pisces 38'/sidereal (Indian) 5° Pisces 37' in uttaraphadrapada nakshatra (ruled by Saturn. Mercury stations direct on March 28, 2019 at 1:58 PM GMT at tropical 16° Pisces 05'/sidereal (Indian) 22° Aquarius 04 in purvabhadrapada (ruled by Jupiter) nakshatra. The inferior conjunction, which occurs midway through that cycle when Mercury is closest to earth occurs on March 15, 2019 at
Tropical. 24°Pi 11' and
Sidereal 00°Pi 09' in purvabhadrapada (ruled by Jupiter) nakshatra.
In general Mercury retrograde will always slow up communications, since retrogrades are slow and close to the earth, while Mercury rules business, communication, travelling, and in general doing many different things at once. Because you are doing so many different things at once, it is very easy to misplace and lose things so just take note of that. Try to move slowly and methodically, and do not take on more than you can chew. You may have to surrender to getting less sleep and feeling more hyper. I advise everyone if possible to refrain from completing an agreement, signing a contract, lease, sale, etc. during the time that Mercury is retrograde. However, if you must go ahead though, then just do it and try to find a good day and hour, and just do some positive affirmations. If you must, then you must, you cannot always control when things happen, however, I have to confess that I have signed great contracts and gone to great conferences, etc. under Mercury retrograde.
While this applies to everyone it especially applies to you if you have any planets or points or angles between tropical 16° Pisces 05' and 29° Pisces 38' or sidereal (Indian) 22° Aquarius 04 and sidereal (Indian) 5° Pisces 37' they you will especially feel the slowness of Mercury, ruling communicating, affecting them. Even if you do not however, look for the house that encompasses those degrees since that is the area of life affected (House meanings below). Also remember that if you have anything in between those degrees Mercury will hit those degrees three times (when it is direct, retrograde, and then direct) and that is the period that is known as the retrograde arc or shadow of Mercury, which begins when Mercury is at the same degree of the direct station and ends at the degree of the retrograde station. So for those of you that do have planets, points, or angles in between those degrees the length of the time you will feel it is between February 19 when Mercury was at tropical 16° Pisces 05'/sidereal (Indian) 22° Aquarius 04 and April 16 when Mercury will be at 29° Pisces 38'/sidereal (Indian) 5° Pisces 37'.
If you have a planet, point, or angle that is one or two degrees away from those stationary degrees then you will be hit only twice but you will feel the strength of the station. If it is conjunct the retrograde station, it may delay things you are working on but if conjunct the direct station it could bring a good professional contact or business opportunity. Pay attention to March 14-March 16 in the world due to the Sun-Mercury conjunction, which also means that Mercury, the planet of communication, business, short trips, relatives, will be combust. If you do have a planet, angle or point around that degree Tropical. 24°Pi 11' /Sidereal 00°Pi 09' work harder to complete something you might have slowed up with, strengthen your communication, mend fences so arguments do not escalate, and be careful with equipment and machinery since they could break down. This goes for the entire period of Mercury retrograde but especially is important if the degrees of stations and conjunction hit something in your chart. and of course look at the houses they pass through.
Other notable occurrences in March are Uranus makes definitive entrance into tropical Taurus on March 6, 2019 after the last year and a half of moving in and out. Regardless of whether you do tropical or sidereal, if you have a planet, angle, or point between tropical 28 Aries-1 Taurus/sidereal 4-7 Aries, you will complete something by April 2019 that may have started around July 2017. That does not mean your life was up and down since then consistently, but there probably was a shift or change in what was represented by that planet, point, or angle.
Nodes move into sidereal Gemini (Rahu-North Node) and sidereal Sagittarius (Ketu-South Node) on March 23. This where Saturn and Pluto are currently placed and where the upcoming eclipses will take place so this year is a definite emphasis on whichever houses contain those signs. This is the beginning of an 18 month cycle for the Nodes. Kiss the Cancer and Capricorn houses goodbye. This will be tough for the Gemini and Sagittarius houses but will send a message to hunker down and pay attention to those areas of life. If you have a planet there, think about what that planet means, and what house that planet rules. For instance, Donald Trump with Leo rising has already been dealing with Saturn and Pluto in sidereal Sagittarius, which is his fifth house, but now Ketu's movement there followed by eclipses this summer, might add more pressure to his fifth house especially. That is the oldest child so there could be more attention on his son. Jupiter is presently in sidereal Scorpio. It moves into sidereal Sagittarius on March 23 and retrogrades back into sidereal Scorpio on April 25, and moves definitively into Sagittarius on November 4. There might be a reprieve but after April 30 especially Don Jr. might finally reveal all he is embroiled in. But it also means general areas of life regarding children, grandchildren (maybe another one in the next 18 months), expenses, speculation etc. Fifth house is a good house, but all the malefics there mean you cannot always trust your luck. That is just one example but can apply to each house. Below are definitions and of course the entire chart has to be examined before anything is decided.
Vedic Bhavas (Houses): 1. appearance, destiny, temperament, personality, constitution; 2. Money, family life, food, speech, early childhood; 3. Siblings, Fine arts, courage, desires; 4. Mother, happiness, real estate, vehicles; 5. Children, romance, investments, speculation; 6. Open enemies, work, competition, obstacles, illness; 7. Marriage, partners, contracts, passion; 8. Life and death cycle, research, accidents, other's money, inheritance; 9. Father, teacher (guru), religion, higher learning, opportunity; 10. Career, status, public recognition, reputation; 11. Profits, rewards, gains from work, awards, older siblings; 12. spiritual practice, secret enemies, foreign travel, debt, confinement.
Tropical Houses: 1. personality, body, appearance; 2. finances, possessions, values; 3. communication, siblings, short journeys, learning; 4. Family, Mother, Home; 5. children, recreation, entertainment; 6. Health, service, pets; 7. marriage, contracts, partnership; 8. business transactions, sexuality, life and death matters; 9. Higher education, travel abroad, publishing, law; 10. profession, status, father; 11. gains, friendships, hopes, dreams; 12. compassion, spirituality, limitations, solitude

Each workshop will include a short break in the morning and afternoon and a lunch break. It will begin with
planetary weather, continuing with specialized topics, and then have case studies. As much as possible we will look to the classical texts and teachings. These workshops are meant as a series and are geared towards those who have taken previous classes with me. But they can also be taken as standalones (it is cheaper to sign up for all three) and you just need to have basic knowledge. If there is something you do not know I will get you up-to-date. Purchase 2019 Sensitive Degrees Workshop:
Stations, Eclipses, Ingresses, Aspects
Took place January 5, 2019.
Four hour workshop. Within 48 hours of ordering, you will get a link for
|complete handouts with 2019 charts and tables, showing degrees and dates to watch in the upcoming year along with audio mp3, and audio-visual mp4. As usual, these are from the point of view of both tropical and Indian (sidereal) astrology.
Some (but not all) planetary signatures covered as follows:
- Lunations (New and Full Moons)
- Eclipses. January 5 (6), January 21, July 2, July 16, December 26 (and the one on January 10, 2020). All the eclipses are part of the 18 year Saros cycle, and, except for the one on January 5 (6), part of the 19 year Metonic cycle. (If you heard my NCGR Eclipse webinar or attended my Philadelphia talk, some of the information will be repeated but only on eclipses.)
- Planetary Stations. Annual retrograde cycles of Mercury, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. (Stations of Saturn and Pluto especially important because they are close to eclipses)
- Aspects. Some of the more important aspects for 2019 are as follows.
- Jupiter square Neptune on January 13, June 16, and September 21.
- Saturn and Pluto will not be conjunct until January 12, 2020, but they will be moving close to each other, and will be joined by Jupiter in 2020, so their positions will be looked at.
- Saturn-Ketu (South Node) conjunction occurs three times because Saturn is retrograde: April 30, July 4, September 28. Since in Indian astrology Ketu, or South Node, takes on the qualities of Mars, so it is like having a Saturn-Mars conjunction.
- Pluto-Ketu (South Node) April 4. Like having a Pluto-Mars conjunction. and more.
- Tropical Ingresses. This year Uranus makes definitive entrance into Taurus on March 6, 2019. Jupiter will be in Sagittarius all year until December 2 when it moves into Capricorn.
- Sidereal Ingresses. The Nodes move into Gemini (Rahu-North Node) and Sagittarius (Ketu-South Node) on March 23. Jupiter is presently in Scorpio. It moves into Sagittarius on March 23 and retrogrades back into Scorpio on April 25, and moves definitively into Sagittarius on November 4.
- And so much more.
