Nela Garzόn, Veronica Gaona and
Delilah Montoya are among the artists featured in this group show, which is curated by
Tina Hernandez and is in collaboration with MantecaHTX's open call.
MantecaHTX, a program of Nuestra Palabra's cultural acceleration program, is a new artist registry open to Houston-area Latinx artists practicing in all disciplines. The Collective's art exhibition coincides with the Latino Art Now! Conference at the University of Houston April 4-9.
The opening reception on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. includes light bites, refreshments and poetry by
Deecolonize, writer/editor/poet. The exhibition runs through Saturday, April 20. Participating artists will discuss Latinx experiences through art on the closing day from 1 to 3 p.m. All events are free.

Elle Cox, above, who participated in The Collective's January 2017 juried exhibition "Self Love" was named a U.S. Presidential Scholar, one of the highest honors a high school student can receive. She has shared a video that was produced by Cathy Le upon her graduation from Houston's Kinder High School for the Performing Arts and Visual Arts.

Workshops and demonstrations are offered at The Collective,
4101 San Jacinto, Suite 116, on Thursdays
from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. and Fridays from 1 to 3 p.m.
The Community Artists' Collective invites you to learn about and to
work on textiles, including quilting, knitting, crochet and embroidering.
Supplies provided. Suggested donation is $30 per month.
