The mission of Summit Public Art (SPA) is bringing art to public spaces in Summit . New Art Coming to Summit in Spring/Summer 2019

The view from Boxwood Coffee is about to get more colorful! Installation of a mural by Paul Santoleri (shown above) begins around May 2019, and will bring vibrancy to the area around Lyric Park on Beechwood Avenue. A special thanks goes out to donors Laura and Jeff Schaffer for making this possible. The Lyric Park mural is just one of several new works of public art that are scheduled for installation throughout this spring and summer. Our next few emails will showcase the new installations, so stay tuned!

Artist Mentor Selected for 2019 RAMP UP Program

Eights students have been selected from among the Summit High School applicants for RAMP UP. Artist Jorge Wellesley and students met for the first time on March 18. Wellesley will guide students through the concept, design, and creation phases of a public art installation. The current plan is for their sculpture to be installed in Promenade Park in late May/early June. We'll be updating you on the program's progress in coming emails.

SPA Supports Our Local Government Summit Public Art will be participating in Summit's City Hall Open House in celebration of NJ Local Government Week on April 11 from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m. City staff will host tours through council chamber, police and fire departments and the Mayor's Office. Citizens can learn about the roles of city departments and the valuable work initiated by community volunteers. More info on the Open House
