Tax Office, Brookshire Bros. partner on renewals
The Comal County Tax Office and Brookshire Brothers have partnered to offer the county’s fifth standalone vehicle-registration renewal center – and the first in the Canyon Lake area.

The partnership allows customers to renew their vehicle registration at the grocery store’s customer service desk rather than traveling to the Tax Office branch location in Sattler or the main office in New Braunfels.

The store is located at 18275 FM 306 on the north side of Canyon Lake, and is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. The Tax Office also offers vehicle-registration renewal through all four H-E-B grocery stores in the county – three in New Braunfels and one in Bulverde – as well as its three offices: the main branch in New Braunfels and the county’s Bulverde and Sattler annexes.

You can also renew online at www.ComalCountyTaxOffice.net.
Extension Office seeking community feedback
Comal County residents will have three opportunities over the next month to shape the future of their local Extension Office.

County receives top recognition for financial reporting
Comal County has received a certificate of achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the professional association representing government finance officials from across the country.

The Government Finance Officers Association has given the county its highest recognition for the county’s commitment to “clearly communicate its financial story,” according to a GFOA statement.

The GFOA provides the certificate annually to public entities based on their comprehensive annual financial reports (CAFRs). Comal County, which submits its CAFR by June 30 each year, has received a certificate of achievement annually since 1992.
Residents take voting machines for a spin
Volunteers and officials with the Comal County Elections Center conducted an open house to let residents test the new voting equipment before municipal and school district elections in May. About 125 people came through the office at 396 N. Seguin Ave. on March 7.

Those who couldn't make it are welcome to drop by the Elections Center to try out the equipment for themselves. Make sure to call 830-221-1352 first to make sure someone will be available to help.
