Prevention Technology Transfer Center (PTTC)

The purpose of the Prevention Technology Transfer Center (PTTC) Network is  to improve implementation and delivery of effective substance abuse preventive interventions,
and provide training and technical assistance services to the substance abuse prevention field.

It does this by developing and disseminating tools and strategies needed to improve the quality  of substance abuse prevention efforts; providing intensive technical assistance and learning  resources to prevention professionals in order to improve their understanding of prevention science,  epidemiological data, and implementation of evidence-based and promising practices; and, developing  tools and resources to engage the next generation of prevention professionals.

Dave Closson, from Mid-America PTTC, was kind enough to create a youtube video that explains more about PTTC, and how we can partner with them. That video can be viewed a this link

In addition, we wish to thank Dave for meeting with several AC4C members via zoom on 3/25 (since we couldn't meet him at our March retreat)!

Legislative Updates regarding Medical CBD

Before the legislative session was suspended, a bill was passed in the House that would remove the 3% THC by volume limit currently in statute and add a limit per customer of 4.5 g of THC purchased in 90 days.  There were several other changes, most of them were recommendations made by the Medical CBD Board.  However, there was an amendment that was added and approved by the House that would add the following new conditions: PTSD and Severe, intractable autism with self-injurious or aggressive behaviors.  These two conditions had previously been recommended to be added by the Medical CBD Board, but the Board of Medicine denied adding them due to lack of research.   In addition, the amendment also changed the wording of the condition Untreatable Pain to "Chronic Pain." This change had also been denied by the Board of Medicine.  There was a section in the amendment that appears to provide protection for employers who still wish to follow drug free workplace policies.  The bill was sent to the Senate and attached to another bill that is currently on file in that chamber.
