Alumni Survey: We Want to Hear from You!
The Columbus Academy Alumni Association is looking ahead. Our goal is to evolve to meet the changing needs of Columbus Academy alumni like you and me. After all, the Alumni Association is
our Association.
To help us gauge what's working, what's not and what you'd like to see next, we'd like to invite you to participate in this
short online survey, which should take between 5-10 minutes to complete. Your feedback is critical to developing the programs and services our alumni community needs to connect in meaningful ways with fellow Vikings and the school today.
My thanks, in advance, for taking the time to complete this important survey. Should you have any questions, please contact me at
alumni@columbusacademy.org.
Go Vikes!

School News
Last month, Explorers teachers (from left) Deanna Robeano and Grace Gordon and PreK teacher Sarah Penney conducted a webinar for early childhood educators from across the nation. These "change-makers" discussed research supporting the transformative benefits of nature-based learning on young children and how that information is being successfully applied on our campus. "We followed up our presentation by answering great questions from the participants, many of whom seem to be in the beginning stages of developing their own outdoor programs," said Sarah, who also noted that Explorers teacher Mike Weible is a member of the presentation team but had to miss the webinar while recovering from back surgery.

Sports News
So far, the winter sports season has been highlighted by our ice hockey program winning its first league title by finishing atop the Capital Hockey Conference Blue Division, our 400 freestyle relay squad consisting of Annalise Grammel, Alexandra Butnariu, Mary Kate Prall and Lauren Klinefelter earning a spot on the state swimming podium with a 7th-place time of 3:41.10, Gyvnn Mendenhall repeating as league and sectional wrestling champion at 195 pounds, Sophie Spolter (first team) and Kayla McClendon (second team) garnering All-MSL honors in girls basketball, bowler Vincent White reaching the district tournament and being among five all-league bowling honorable mentions, and our boys basketball team reaching tonight's sectional finals against top-seeded Harvest Prep. Tipoff is 7:00 p.m. at Bloom-Carroll High School.

Academy junior Regan Cornelius (second team) and senior Kiersten Thomassey (third team) were named 2019 High School All-Americans by MAX Field Hockey, who also selected Regan as the 2019 Ohio High School Player of the Year! Playing in California earlier this month, Kiersten and Regan helped the U.S. Rise (under-18) Women's National Team sweep a six-game series with Canada's U-18 squad. Kiersten scored a pair of goals in a 6-0 win on February 17, and Regan found the back of the net during another 6-0 victory the very next day. After the conclusion of the series, USA Field Hockey added Kiersten to the Rise national team roster alongside Regan (Kiersten had originally missed tryouts with an injury). And competing for Field Hockey Life (FHL) club the following weekend, Kiersten teamed with Academy junior Sarah Klingerman and fellow senior Annie Wimsatt to go undefeated and place first in their pool at the National Indoor Tournament in Richmond, Virginia.
